RE: big spike
Let him go. He' s just a young deer more than likely. He' s 1 1/2 but just short on his first rack. I' ve seen button bucks chase does and worry them to death. I had a button run a fawn doe by me one day, I though for sure a big one was after her. This button came through about 1 minute after her with his nose to the ground just grunting up a storm. I know he was a button as he stopped right under my tree with his tongue hanging out.... and then tore off after her with his nose to the ground like the big boys.

RE: big spike
In PA he is considered a doe. Must have three inch' s. I wouldn' t worry about him breeding. Spikes don' t always have bad genes.
