BOW HUNTING RING NECKS
I JUST GOT A PASS TO HUNT RING NECKS ON POST. THE ONLY WAY I CAN HUNT THEM IS WITH A BOW. ARMY RULES. NOW MY QUESTION IS WOULD IT BE RIGHT TO SHOOT THEM ON THE GROUND? I DONT WANT TO SHOOT IN THE AIR.
I GOT A OLD RECURVE AND SOME ARROWS OFF A KOREAN GUY FOR $20. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? |

RE: BOW HUNTING RING NECKS
I saw a show once where they were using bows and trying to shoot them in the air after they flushed. They were on a huge piece of private prairie land though and didnt have to worry about where their arrows went. I know its not acceptable to shoot them on the ground with a shotgun but to me with a bow maybe hunting them like turkeys where you set up on the edge of a feeding area or something would be quite a challenge. Just make sure any method you use is legal in that area!

RE: BOW HUNTING RING NECKS
Since you got such a good deal on the bow, go out and spend a few bucks on a half dozen flu flu arrows. The arrows wont go that far and you should be able to locate them when they land (with some bright fletching.) Then go for that one in a million shot.

RE: BOW HUNTING RING NECKS
I' ve tried it a couple of times-alot of fun if the birds are flying.Never hit one but got pretty close a few times.Sitter is right--get yourself some flu-flu' s.There' s nothing wrong with shooting them on the ground but if they take to the air,you might as well be ready. Also,I' d use a broadhead tipped arrow.

RE: BOW HUNTING RING NECKS
I watched a show where they were trying to shoot them as they were flying but they didnt get any. It looks very tough. I have shot some on the ground before and it is fun.
