Experienced the same reaction here before, heart shot. If you watch any of the hunting shows you will see the mule kick often and of course they always find thier deer [:-].

Bet you couldn' t sleep well last night.
Yes, you nailed him good. Thats probably one of the best reactions to get when you hit a deer. You know its going down soon.
Good Luck in the morning and congrats.

Well.... No Buck
I found the arrow where I shot at the buck
And
I found 3 small twigs on about a four foot sapling cut clean right before the arrow.
I dont know if one of the twigs hit him and caused him to kick????
Who Knows!!!!
I dont remember seeing the sapling there.[]
Now Im gonna go and bury my head in the sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!1[:@][X(]
Dont feel much like hunting again[X(]for awhile, Im not real proud of myself right now.
I dont know ...maybe Ill try again next week.....or not we' ll see.

Lady Forge,
Please don' t be so hard on yourself. We all miss and if the light wasn' t great that can easily explain overlooking that little sapling. I' d say wait until the wind is right again and go wack you buck. He' s yours. Take him before he wanders under someone else stand.

Did you find the doe?

Don' t be so hard on yourself. At least you missed him clean and he' s not wounded. Believe me, wounding an animal is the worst feeling in the world, it makes you feel so horrible I can' t even describe it.

Good luck, you' ll get him.

Very interesting that it would kick like that and not be hit. I would look again!

I agree with everyone who said dont be so hard on yourself and you shouldnt. I havent gotten a deer or any thing yet with my bow but i am still trying. There will be times for each bowhunter that might not get the killing shot and just wound the game. Its a horrible thought but its going to happen eventually. I think shots like that will make one more determined to make a hit in the vital areas. So once again, dont be so hard on yourself. You live, you learn *hugs to ya*
