Well, it started off bad, but......

Didn' t get anything but enjoyed it non the less. I have only been able to spend 6 hours in the stand this year so I was determined to spend the whole day without disruption hunting. Started by leaving NJ heading for Md at 3 in the morning. An hour into the drive and cruseing down I95 a van traving about 1/4 mile in front of me bounces off the guardrail, does a 180 and ends up in the left south bound lane facing north. Wanting to go hunting in the worse way I thought I would just drive arond it and keep going. Just couldn' t do that so I stopped and checked on the people inside. The driver had a pretty good gash in his head so I dialed 911 and stayed with them till athoritys arrived. After reliezing there were no serious injuries I started to reflect on my season and decided no matter what I would do someone or something was determined to keep me out of the woods this year. I arrived at the woods just as the sun came up and deer were everywhere, in the yards and in the gardens and immediatly dispershed into the woods, game over. The morning ended up just being a scouting session. Evening was a little different. Had a 16" eight point at 12 yards then a spike at 15 and then a couple does and the 8pt again. That was between 4:30 and 5:30. While the 8pt and does were out in front of me this woman carring her little dog came walking down through the woods and sat on a big rock while she let her dog run around. After she leaves a man dressed in regular cloths comes across the creek passing 35 yards from my stand and heads up the hill to the houses. Don' t know where he came from or what he was doing, awww the challenge of residental hunting. At least I saw deer so it was all in all a good day. Hope that 8pt is around nest year as he will be a good one then.

Thats tough hunting, don' t think my nerves could withstand " residential" hunting.

But that good deed you performed by stopping and helping the accident victims shows what kind of guy you are.........well done!!!!!

Hey, a fellow " backyard" buck hunter!

Just think, your season could have been over had that van not been far enough ahead of you. Glad to hear you took the time to stop and help them.

I do alot of residential hunting. It can be productive but it' s nothing like being way out in the middle of no mans land. :)

I' ve had a few similar experiences, md.

One that comes to mind was on a farm that I hunted for the very first time. The first time I scouted it I spotted a nice shooter. A few days later I scouted a little more and set a stand.

Right at prime time on a Friday night I was in the stand and the light was getting just right. You could just feel that something was about to happen...

That' s when I found out that right behind the 40 acre woods was a high school football field with a very capable loudspeaker system.

" LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE' D LIKE TO ANNOUNCE TONIGHT' S STARTING LINEUP"

When he was done announcing, the band started up.

:D

Last year I was perched about 20 feet up watching these guys clean up leaves and blow them into the woods from this guys lawn. They were maybe 80 yards away. Then I see this guy walking down through the woods talking on his cell phone. He wanders down and is standing on this trail that comes past my stand, maybe 30 yards away talking on his cell. He looks around, starts tugging on his belt, drops his pants(still talking on the telephone) and takes a dump. He never sees me and eventually makes his way back to help the others blow leaves. He NEVER wiped![:o]
