Hunting ethics, you make the call!
 

Had this happen to a friend of mine last Monday morning while elk hunting, he was posted in a drainage ditch, about 40 yards from ridge to ridge, he had been sitting at his spot all morning when someone walked up the drainage and posted just 30 yards away from him, what would you have done? my friend asked the guy to leave, and the other guy responded by saying " this is public land, and I have every right to be here just like you" How would you handle this situation?

More than likely I would have just moved to a different place. Im not one for confrontation.

I would have taken a big ol dump right there and told the dude that spot was all his.

I would have said something like " come on man, I' ve been here all morning, give me a little room will ya, if you stay there neither one of us will do any good and hope for the best.

I probably would have just got up and left. There' s no excuses for that kind of behavior. I could see it happening if the other guy had a stand set up and your buddy didn' t know it was there, but were talking elk hunting and there' s alot of moving around and glassing in hunting elk. It sounds like the guy was just trying to be a jerk. Sorry for your friend. It' s too bad some folks act like that.[:@]

It depense on what kind of mood I' m in. I had a spot a few years a go that I spent a lot of time and money with scapes, drippers and sents. Then the 1st day came and when it got light I was looking though bino. and there were to kids 30-40 yrds from my stand. they were just standind and sitting. so I whistled , they just looked. So after awhile I got so mad that I throw my water bottle at them. from my stand. they just looked. So I got down walked over to them looked at them and walked down through the woods to my truck. to mad to hunt just went home. Right or wrong thats what I did. I can only say that I wanted to do more, But I didn' t....

People who don' t have any respect for another hunters spot, really have no business in the woods. It' s common sense if someone is already there, you go to another spot.

I think you were being harassed...........maybe you should have turned him into the authorities..........told them he was a peta member and he was interfering in your hunt.

Most of the time when this happens, all the guy needs is a little arse whopping!!!!!!!!

Situations like this can usually be corrected with proper gentlemen like communication!
If your friend simply " asked the guy to leave" , 9 out of 10 times he' ll probably get a response he doesn' t want to hear.

I' d probably get up and move. Unless the guy was a ahole. Then I' d stay in my spot and make enough noise to ruin his day too.
