How many treestands do you have?

Doing a little research - how many treestands do you own and what kind (lock-on, climber, ladder, other)?

mrbb 10-04-2016 10:29 AM

not many right now sold off most
but in 2014 I had about 55 of them, a mix of ladder stands and loc on and 3-4 climbers
I also had ladder stands set up on property's in a few states too, I left up yr round?

Most I had on one property was 39, a 200 acre piece with 16 acre's of food plots
and 3 guys hunting it?

Hatfield Hunter 10-04-2016 11:33 AM

6 ladder,s

huntnmachine 10-04-2016 11:40 AM

3 ladder stands

younggun308 10-04-2016 11:41 AM

Zero, but likely going to invest in a climber within a year.

rockport 10-04-2016 11:47 AM

31 ladder stands in trees that I can count off the top of my head.. Not sure how many I have laying around.

BrushyPines 10-04-2016 12:13 PM

1 climber & 3 ladder stands

Champlain Islander 10-04-2016 12:40 PM

8 aluminum lock ons, 2 sets of climbing sticks, bags of screw in pegs, 1 climber which is a summit which is the best of the bunch by far. So nice to hunt out of, easy to pack in and quiet and simple going up and down. All are hanging in the cellar right now since I won't be allowed to draw my bow this year which is a bummer.

jcrobra 10-04-2016 01:00 PM

Where the heck do you store 55 stands???

I read that about 1.5 million treestands are sold every year...now I'm starting to see why lol. Must be the 80/20 rule, 80% of the stands are purchased by 20% of the hunters.

Beard Buster 10-04-2016 01:29 PM

This is mind blowing! I have one Summit that I use exclusively, and then my old climber that is pretty primitive. I keep it for when I have friends hunt with me who don't have one. I carry my stand in and out, every time and have never had one stolen. BB

I got tired of having to put stands up every yr, so started buying ladderstands I leave up all yr
I used to hunt 5-7 states a yr, and had many properties I kept stands on

I used to find and sell, about 8-10 stands a yr from trespassers too
used to leave a note when I took them down , saying IF they wanted back, they could contact me, But I would have them arrested for trespassing?(also would get them for property damage)
TO date, NO one has ever claimed a single stand!!

if you hunt a lot and a have a lot of places, its pretty easy to get a LOT of stands over the yrs!

if you buy 5 a yr, in 10 yrs that 50 stands?
been hunting for a lot more than 10 yrs

I also replace stands about every 10 yrs or sooner based on how they hold up, and all get a good once over every yr , as tree's grow and thats a TON of stress on welds!

Tufrthnails 10-04-2016 03:33 PM

5 ladders from the old lease days.
1 Climber
and 1 lock on and sticks
I would say 95% of my hunting is lock on 5% is climber
the only thing I use one ladder for is practicing with my bow in the backyard I have one double in an oak out back.

grinder67 10-04-2016 06:48 PM

I have a climber, my wife has a climber and we have a buddy ladder stand that I set up for my dad

ManofTheFall 10-05-2016 02:21 AM

12, 1 blind, 2 lock on, and 9 ladder stands.

dbllunged 10-05-2016 04:46 AM

18 stands, combination of ladder and lock ons, on 5 different properties. I too have sold some that were uncomfortable over the past couple years. I leave the ladders up all year and bring most of the lock ons home.

muzzlestuffer 10-05-2016 05:11 AM

One my tree lounge

jnrbronc 10-07-2016 11:20 AM

2 ladder stands (donated by trespassers) and 6 hang on (lone wolf, Gorilla, Big Game) stands. I have an old climber that I haven't used in twenty years (Amacker deer thief).

reb1 10-07-2016 11:28 AM

55 is a lot to keep track of. That's some serious hunting

Doughboy2 10-12-2016 07:19 AM

1 climber...3 ladder stands....2 chain on stands...

Valentine 10-12-2016 08:06 AM

That's easy

I have one treestand, a climber, for the last twenty years. It never stays outdoors, and is carried into the woods on the day of use, and carried out at the end of use. I use different locations.
Its never been left out over night. I carry it because I've stayed in shape and I walk five to ten miles a week.
The stand cost me some $160 dollars twenty years ago. I think I got a good bargain.

And the stand can't be used by many hunters. I has a weight limit of 250 lbs.

dpv 10-12-2016 10:00 AM

I have 3 ladder stands and a climber I've had a few others over the years. And I find myself doing more hunting from blinds these days, but I am planning an elevated shooting house in the near future.

Bocajnala 10-13-2016 07:36 PM

1 ladder stand, 2 hang on stands, 2 climbers( But I only use my summit, the other one is old, heavy, and retired.) and two box blinds that I've built. And I primarily hunt from the ground haha.

zahid 10-26-2016 08:23 AM

1 climber and 6 ladder

Muzzleloaderhunter 11-04-2016 01:07 PM

I don't believe the 55 stands guy. Anyways I have 8. 4 ladder stands, all muddy brand and 4 hang ons. Hunt 343 acres total and them are plenty enough stands

blessed n born to hunt 11-16-2016 07:40 PM

I had an awesome aluminum climber that was stolen when I left it on a property I hunt , still have I single and one double 15 ft , and a camo extra ladder that has a nice chair attached , and one that just attaches to the tree . I use my single 15 ft , $65, 45 lbs almost always ,
GOD BLESS Y'ALL

Bocajnala 11-17-2016 12:25 AM

I'm gonna add a second ladder stand when they go on sale after Christmas... That'll put me up to 2 ladder stands, 2 box blinds, 2 hang ons, 2 climbers, and a ground blind....

fishinty 11-29-2016 04:05 PM

Ive got 2 lock ons. 3 ladder stands, and 4 climbers

Topgun 3006 11-29-2016 04:58 PM

I have 7 ladder stands that are never taken down, one permanent ground blind that is completely enclosed and covered with steel that is only used in the nastiest weather, and one popup blind that I can move easily wherever I want it. As I've gotten into my late 60s I haven't hunted off the ground in any of the ladder stands the last few years and may never get in them again.

The Newbie Hunter 03-06-2017 06:32 PM

I've got one ladder stand, ground blind, and one hang-on. I'm planning on purchasing a couple more hang-ons for next season.

GTOHunter 03-18-2017 06:18 AM

I have 8 different ladder stands scattered in different Areas/Positions across our Farm and I'm building 1 nice permanent Elevated Box Blind that I can Hunt out of in any type of weather year round and I have 1 Climbing Stand and 1 Foldable Box Blind.

Stpjohnson 03-25-2017 01:59 AM

I have one at the moment, but I plan on buying two new.
