Here is an airial photo of the area I hunt. Do ya' ll see any areas that stand out to be a good place to setup?

the 3 lines that form a triangle are pipelines and power line easements. there is one pond and one swampy area, the rest is heavy woods.

I would look to see if there is a particular spot along the pond that they seem to come to drink at more often than others.

Is the swamp that area to the right (east?) of the pond? Regardless, you ' may' have a funnel area between the pond and the swamp.

There may be particular paths that the deer use to cross the powerline clearing(s). Set up 20-30 yards into the woods along those paths, possibly.

A water source is a good idea, unless your living in an area like mine. We have so much rain there is water every where.

What' s the main food source?

I' m with Charlie. Never saw much use in hunting water except in Texas. The rest of the world there are little puddles everywhere. Hunt the food, edges, ridges, saddles, trails.. etc etc etc. This picture doesn' t give me enough to go on. I see a couple things right off I' d check, but this picture isn' t clear enough to make me say " You should hunt here" .

The photo is not very clear. If you have the gps coordinates you can get a pretty detailed aerial photo for free at msn terraserver. http//terraserver-usa.com

I have used their free pictures to make aerial maps of hunting areas I have used. For some of the areas the server has topo maps available as well.

I' ve been meaning to post an aerial and ask the same question.

Looking at the aerial I guess I would look into the spot on the bottom (south?) end of the pond. Especially if you can get a shot at the pond and the clearing from the power line. They don' t look to be too far away. That' s where I would check out.

Good luck. I wish I had a big piece of woods like that to hunt.
