Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Would you guys be interested in seeing a video full of kill shots like the Doemasters bow hunting clip plus several quality gobblers getting hammered up close? These are real hunters on real hunts. There are no paid hunts, no fences, or no dinner-bell kills where the hunter picks out the biggest buck like picking out the freshest milk in the grocery store. We' re putting together a sho-nuff video for the common hunter & need some feedback.
Thanks & shoot straight, Doemasters.com |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...

RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...

RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
If you want me to buy a video, it' s got to have more on it than kills. A video of just kills is like a porno flick, no substance and it gets old very fast.
Show how the stand sight was selected, show how the gear was selected. Show a topo of the property being hunted and explain what is happening where and why, and again, how that led to the stand position. Show what to do after the wind shifted and when to draw and why to wait. Show how to track an animal under different conditions and different terrain. Many of the hunting videos I have seen skips the whole tracking process and just shows the hunter walking up on the dead animal. These, and many more considerations I' m not thinking of right now, that show how we got to the point of the kill is what appeals to me. I pretty much know how to aim and shoot at a deer, and what an arrow does to a deer after it is hit. I could use some brush up on all of the other aspects. Some find these things boring, I know. |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I' m with by23856 on this one.
A " highlight" film with nothing but kill shots is not only boring to watch after awhile, but I think it really degrades the sport of hunting. After all, it IS calling " hunting" and not " killing" so why only show kill shots? If it' s all wild and all real hunters, go into their stories a little bit more. Like by suggested, give background as to where they' re hunting, why they selected that stand, recent or past deer sightings, weather conditions, etc etc. The full story makes things a lot more exciting then having a deer flash up on the tv and then get shot 15 seconds later. |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I' d watch a video of various kill shots but I can' t say that I' d buy or rent it. If it was a video I could download and watch for free that' d be different.

RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I don' t think I was too clear in my question.... It' s a video of actual hunts, setups(food sources-bedding areas), surroundings, weapon choises, gear plugs, animals on the hoof (feeding, displaying...etc...), a good bit of humor, & yes... kills. It also shows some misses... great fun with those! The only difference between our tapes & a " PRO" tape is ours is real. No paid hunts, no fences, etc...
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Yes, then I would watch something like that.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Personally I would not buy a video of doe and dink hunts - bore me to death
If you have some nice mature bucks on that video - well that might get my money:D Sorry - but I would rather watch a slammer get hunted on a ranch than a dink get hunted on public land. Lord knows I have seen enough dinks this year:D |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Yeah, I would like to see the video [8D]
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I would like to see it also ;)
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I too would watch something like that.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Real hunts, no fences and some real life mistakes!
I would like to see that bacause so many videos today look like something made in Hollywood. |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Rachunter,
That' s the way we feel... We' ve got 3 hillariousmisses that (I believe) everyone can relate to. |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Yep, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!:D
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I would watch it. Might help with ideas of setups that other hunters use that work and don' t work.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
The only difference between our tapes & a " PRO" tape is ours is real. No paid hunts, no fences, etc... I' ve had the " pleasure" of being exposed to the insides of " the making of the video" , it' s very cut throat and when moneys on the line, people can get funny. |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I didn' t mean it to sound like theirs are fake. I just get tired of watching very wealthy people go on these ridiculously expensive hunts that most of us will never get to go on & see dozens of monsters we might never see in our lives I want to see everyday people like me having some success too. That' s the intent.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I understand completely, and agree with you. However, if their high priced attorney can " prove" your statements caused monetary damage or slandered their reputation, your intent means usually means squat.
At least that' s how it works on Law and Order :) |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I would watch!!!!!!!!!!
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
i need all the help i can get , bring it on.....
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
yep. i would check it out.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Thanks everyone on some thought provoking feedback. I' ll keep posting clips... we' ve got tons!
Shoot straight! |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
Nope, never have considered huntin a spectator' s sport.
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
What do you mean " a spectaror' s sport?" You do not watch hunting tapes?
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I like that idea. I hate to watch espn outdoors and watch everything but the kill shot. I thing it would be even better if you could mix it up with the " ouch" shot. (see previous post) that would give it a reality spin to it!
|
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I' ve gotten away from watching videos and the hunting programs on the Outdoor Channel for many of the reasons posted above.
I might be coerced if you don' t load it up with needless marketing ploys. All those shows seem to be the same..... if you want to be successfull then these 2500 dollar optics are a must.... or I never enter the field without my high dollar _______ (you fill in the blank). By their standards I should never shoot a deer. Good luck and much success anyway.... |
RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
I agree with you guys. It' s just a video of me & my friends really hunting. There will be very little (if any) advertising.

RE: Need Feedback From All Hunters...
You know-I have been making informational Bowhunting videos going into my 14th year. All our Bowhunts are real. Some low fence, some high fence, some no fence & LOTS of PUBLIC ACCESS. INFORMATION is our 1st objective & the 2nd is entertainment for our customer. We MAKE the video & advertise it at our expense. I let the Bowhunters decide on IF they want it or not. I " TRY" to gear my information for the Bowhunter that wants a out of state (vacation) OR different Bowhunt. I also do Bowhunts that the " AVERAGE" WORKING man can afford. You will not see any Ranch hunts that run $2000 & up for a hunt or places like the Sanctuary in Michigan. You will NOT see me plugging any particular hunting product EXCEPT Rocky Mountain Broadheads-no, not a sposor-I just have been shooting them since they came on the market & think they are great. I am an independant producer and a Bowhunter just like you. I get NO freebee Bowhunts OR even a deal-I am not looking for that. I just logged 12,000 miles Bowhunting wild Hogs making a informational video and 8 Bowhunts I paid full price for since we do not have wild hogs running around our state unless private facility. NO hunt was over $500. The video will tell & show you about all the places we went & how we DECIDED with each place. Lots more information will be include. " IF" you are interested in one of the places we Bowhunted, it will be your decision on what type & price you want. The video price will probably be $10 or under. Now, do the math & how many will it take just to pay for my gas?? I wish you luck in your production-just use good taste in showing your kills. I once viewed a promotional video for Africa that was KILLS-not very tastful even to Die Hard Bowhunters like me & my family.
Oh, this is the star of my piggy video & I have a few more in the editing stages now-yep, still have to edit & dress it up. ![]() |
