RE: Please help????????New Hunting Area
Deer are probably using the small waterhole, as opposed
to the lake, because it is secluded...they feel safe there. I don' t know what the weather is like where you live, but it' s been very dry here in Iowa...and that can be a great time for small, out of the way, waterholes[:-]. If there are fresh tracks along the edge of the water, that means does are using it:)...soon, where there are does - there will be bucks also:D. During the upcoming rut, I imagine bucks will pass through, on the downwind side, winding the area for any ' hot does' . Sounds like there' s already at least one buck around, since you' ve found rubs & scrapes. Sounds like you' ve got the makings for a great setup. I' d hang a stand (two, if the waterhole is big enough, so you can hunt different winds) in a tree that offers you some concealment and background cover, to break up your outline. More than anything else, pay attention to the wind, not only at the tree you are hunting, but your entry and exit from your stand location. It will only be a great stand, if you can get in and out without alerting deer to your presence. Keep the element of suprise on your side and I' ll bet we' ll be hearing a success story from you soon!;)[:-]:D Best of Luck- TB |
