How late do you stay on stand????
 

I was just wondering how late everybody stays in thier tree or blind. I usually stay until it is to dark for a good shot. My brother always stays until it is completely dark and has atken a few shots that I think were taken when it was to dark to see good enough for a ethical shot. How about you' all how late do you stay in the woods?

I stay till it is completely dark. I won' t take a shot if I think it is too dark.

More or less that seems to be 15-20 minutes before hunting hours end. If I can' t see 75-100 yards past my stand I won' t even consider a shot. I don' t leave till complete darkness because I could get busted if seen by deer. The darker it is the better my chances at not being seen.

I stay until I can' t see to make a shot. Waiting til almost dark you have to only take a broadside shot.......no sense in taking any chances.

Well, on Friday, I was in the stand from 6:30 AM till 6:30PM. Saturday, I scored on a doe at 7:00 am, got down at 8:30. Yesterday, I was in the stand from 1:30pm-6:30pm.

I will stop hunting when I feel it' s too dark to make an ethical shot. However I then stay on stand until it' s completely dark just to observe if anything moves through.

In the AM, I stay until about 10--10.30am and then just have to take a little walk for scouting. In the PM, I stay until I really dont feel comfortable taking a shot and recovering any deer. If there' s deer in the area, I' ll wait until they are gone until I climb down.

I just keep an eye on my sites... When I can' t see them anymore, I climb down.

I leave about 15 minutes before the end of legal shooting hours. I' d prefer to prevent getting busted in the dark on my way out.

About a half hour before light is gone I limit myself to what I would call a " slam dunk" shot. Perfect broadside 15 yards or less. Then I wait till I can' t see my pins before getting down.

I figure a " slam dunk" should leave me with a short track and recovery which is very desirable with darkness aproaching fast. Notice I said " should" . If only the darn deer would be more cooperative ;)
