RE: Virginia Hunters, I need help
You need to buy a small game license ($12.50) and a big game license ($12.50) and a archery license ($12.50). This will allow you to hunt from the beginning of archery season(usually around the start of Oct) through the very end of the season(Jan 5 this year). Check the reg's for the county you will be hunting in, as they vary from county to county. On your license you will have deer, turkey, and bear stamps along with being able to hunt small game also. Va also has bonus deer tags that can be purchsed and used (again, check the reg's for your county). It's really not that confusing. And yes, you can use a bow during the gun season, if you choose. Good luck.

I forgot....as far as national forest goes, if you will be hunting in national forest, you have to buy a stamp. It is good for hunting and fishing in national forests. And I was refering to a State hunting license. The county license is available, however it limits you to only that county. Go with the state, then you can hunt anywhere you might get a spot to go.

RE: Virginia Hunters, I need help
Well let me welcome you to The Old Dominion first of all, lots of deer and some very nice sized ones also. WV Hunter pretty much hit it on the head. You will need to start looking for places to hunt as soon as you get moved, a lot of folks do not allow hunting on their property anymore or a hunt club may have the place already leased. If you join a club, check it out before you join, some of them are more drinking and partying than hunting, but there are a lot of good ones also. Being a bow hunter if you join a club you will probably have some real good hunting because most hunt club members are not bow hunters. Email me and I will give you my home phone if you want to give me a buzz once you get moved. The regs are really not that bad, the seasons and limits are broke down by county, but it is faily easy to figure out, I will gladly help you out once you get moved.

RE: Virginia Hunters, I need help
welcome to Va. I can't realy help with a place to hunt, but if you get the reg book, and study it you will figure it out ok. It took my a while, and you have to be careful. I have found Va to have some excellent hunting, especialy here in Bedford county where I live.
