Bag Target and stand
On Jan 9th there will be a memorial archery shoot for a young bowhunter that lost his life is an ATV accident. He parents are looking for donations for this fundraiser so I made the bag and the wooden stand for the event. The stand is made from 2 x 3's and 2 x 4's. The base (part than contacts the ground) is treated lumber. Its painted with exterior latex house paint.

Very nice. I like the design.

Very nice, but I'd either remove the wood forming the X behind the bag or shorten them and bring the bottoms up so the X isn't behind the main part of the bag. It really doesn't look like they are even necessary as well as you built the stand itself.

I'm thinking those cross braces he put in function more as a stop for the bag rather than additional bracing. You know, keeping the bag from swinging too much from impact. Makes for a faster recovery for a stationary target.
Nice work as always DIY!! Good luck at the fund raiser. |

The x bracing really stabilizes the frame and yes it limits the amount of rearward swing on impact. I dont think and arrow will pass through resulting in hitting the x brace. Ive made these bags before and if allowed to swing Ive never shot through even at 305 FPS.

Thanks for those comments DIY Guy!
