ground blind questios
I' m considering to buy a ground blind and have few questions:
- scent control - do you use scent supresant on the blind material, do the help to contain human scent while sitting in the blind - I' m guessing that you can' t just put up a blind and hunt right away, how long should the blind stand before the critters (deer) will get use to it - what is the best location to place the blind, heavy cover, against brush or trees, what about open field? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I would like to share hunting experience with my son or even my wife (that is a long shot though):D |
RE: ground blind questios
BN alot of the question you have depend on a lot of situations, deer numbers, prevailing winds, travel patterns, food sources, and many more to answer it generically, you can sit one up almost anywhere, we have set them up and hunted them in the same day, as far as scent control there are alot of cattle in our area one thing we do is put the blind up in the barn for a day before going to field with it, if you are unsure of scent try some of the earth scent wafers they smell like dirt and work rather well. as far as putting one out in the open we do so quite often during gun season, put a pop up blind on the corner of a wood lot so we can see two directions. You know your hunting area and how tolerant the deer are to change experiment and learn by trial and error. Part of being a successful hunter is making mistakes and learning. Good Luck....
