ground shrinkage

Is there any truth to if a bear has small ears its a big bear and if it has big ears its a small bear? Any other good i.d' s for a big bear judging from the stand? Thanks for all....................Mitch

Yeah, the ears don' t grow much compared to the bear. If you have a hard time seeing the ears, it' s a big one! If you' re rifle hunting, use a laser rangefinder so you don' t shoot a close, small bear in mistake for a larger, distant bear. I' ve also heard that the big males act tough the way they carry themselves, almost like a swagger. If it looks like it has long, lanky legs it' s probably a young one. The bigger ones are stocky enough that the legs look short.

Ohh...I thought you were going to offer up an explination of why everytime I shoot a 170" class deer the antlers loose 60" by the time I find it:D
