can anyone tell me when rut / pre rut comes in in spring field il?

dblj, some young bucks are starting to chase does now, but nothing serious, the closer to november we get, the harder the rut is going to come on. We saw a half dozen young bucks out buttin heads, messin around the other day and today i saw a young 4 point chasing a doe and found a scrape right by where i saw it. Im in Nashville IL, not real far from you. so i think as the month goes on and the weather gets cooler the ruts going to kick into swing earlier than usual.

Be ready for the last few days of October. And if the temperatures are near normal, be ready to hunt as much as possible from the first week of November thru and up to shotgun weekend. In nearly 28 years of bowhunting I always point to the 2nd week of November as the peak time of the rut. Thats when you may see bucks you never dreamed were even around!
