RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Hey - buckmaster_88 -
Congrats on your doe - Its a fine deer to take, especially with a bow (none of this Bucks Only BS). Really though - you should work on comprehensive, maybe even complete sentences - you' ll get alot further in the end. I mean - you' ll earn a little mor respect. Congrats again. |
RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY

Good Luck! |
RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Great job man!:D
Congratulations. BTW, does anybody else have this reading problem? I, for some odd reason, cannot take a breath until I have finished a sentence.[:o] This one darn near kilt me!;) |
RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
The way you describe it the arrow struck the deer in front of the shoulder, where the neck joins it. The arrow broke when the deer flexed it' s shoulder. Normal for that to happen, one way to avoid it is to wait for a quartering away shot and shoot behind the shoulder.
Congrats! |

RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Congrats on the doe, did she break the arrow or did she hit a tree and break it?
|
RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Congradulations on your deer. I bet you were pumped.
As far as your arrow breaking. Thats probably more rare for a carbon than an aluminum, but when the deer ran is hard telling what force was asserted on that arrow by trees, brush etc. I once shot a dandy buck, to far back, in the paunch with an aluminum arrow. Later after trailing it through two woods, several fields and it had jumped two fences, we found him with the arrow. The distance was like 3/4 mile and the arrow was perfectly straight. So anything is possible. Whether broken or lost, one concern then is where is the broadhead when you field dress it. Happy Hunting Dan |
RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
The broadhead was about a inch from coming out of the ribs right behind the kidney. I got both somehow

RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Congrats on the doe!!

RE: HEY GOT FIRST DEER TODAY
Congrats Colt! I' m sure you are pumped and hooked for life on bowhunting huh!?
I' m guessing the reason your arrow may have broken is that many times if you don' t get a complete pass thru and tuck one tight in behind the shoulder like you did, the deer' s first violent movement as it runs and it' s legs fly rearward will simply snap it off like a toothpick. Then the broadhead end will simply fall out the other side. Sometimes you will wind up with the fletched broken end inside the chest cavity if that end actually makes it into the chest without going all the way through. Congrats Again!! , and I' m not picking on you because god knows I had " more important things" on my mind at 15 yrs old than good sentence structure, but yeah it really wouldn' t hurt to apply some of that Junior High English class to your posts.......it' ll help out our Old Farts quite a bit. ;) Get those pics to me and I' ll make sure they get up here for everyone to see if you are having any troubles with that technical picture stuff. |
