so im new to this bow hunting sport and only once in my life seen a buck while ever hunting. so i go to get some scent eliminator thinking i might work. well lemme tell you. today i was out watching a trial that had crazy mad deer sign on it. after about an hour and a half later i looked to my left and there was a deer standing about 10 yards from me on the other side of the tree line in was in. after my heart skipped two beats and i wiped the pee off my shoes, i turned my attention back to the trail because i wanted to turn around and position myself for a shot, when i turned back to look at the trail that i was just staring at about 3 or 4 seconds earlier there was a deer standing in the exact spot i was just looking at. so now there is a deer to my right and a deer to my left in a field. so im standing there thinking to myself, how the fudge did this thing get there without me seeing it. i swear is was standing right in front of me, (i was hunting from the ground). so im trying to be as still as possible, trying to get my heart to slow down and trying to come up with some sorta plan. im looking at the deer in front of me and i notice movement behind the deer im staring at....A 3rd DEER! how did they get there!? its like scotty and capt kirk beamed them there when i was blinked my eyes. so now im really excited, my heart starts to drop back down into my stomach and i see a 4rth deer to the right of the 3rd deer. all just standing there looking around. so the closest one starts snorting and runs off after about 3 minutes of staring at me and the two behind her follow her, but the original one in the filed stays and eats some more grass, so i start to turn towards her and a 5th deer walks out of the bushes and starts to follow the 3 doe that ran off, but then it stops. im standing there looking at the 5th deer, the sun was setting behind it and it looked really cool and really BIG, but there was something different about it, it looked like it had two regular sized ears and two really big giant ears that sparkled in the sun light... then it hit me... ITS A F&%$#@G BUCK! i thought to myself, holy freaking crap! i actually said that out loud and spooked the buck and the doe in the field! it was so awsome to be so close to them. it was like was being surrounded to be jumped into a gang. had i not paniced, i would have got a shot at the first doe. she had no idea i was there. ill get one of them. i made a few mistakes today and learned from them. 1st, i was in a bad position. i need to position myself so that i have a good shooting lanes. 2nd, be still! 3rd, always use scent elimonator. i really think it works. and 4rth, when i see a deer, i cant yell out " ITS A F%$#*&% BUCK!" and expect them to stand there and let me proced to draw my bow and shoot them in the chest. tomoor is another day!

Sounds like you' re on your way. Stick with it, and you' ll be amazed at what you can learn. I have to disagree with Kip though. You can talk to the deer. It' s just that they don' t like it very much!

Lol, man sounds like your in the right spot, heck you might think of backing out another 5 or 10 yards if the cover allows it. With that many eyes and nose' s its real tough not to get busted. Good luck.

Can you get off the ground any in that spot?? treestand maybe? Blowdown??

Anything to get you off the ground will allow you more movement before getting busted and you may see them coming a lot sooner.

Now that you' ve got the seeing a buck part taken care of you can start working on shooting one

My 2 cents.............You would have had the same results without " scent eliminator" .

Really - play the wind - and ignore the Hype, you' ll see more deer - that' s my motto - and I don' t think I' m alone.
