ASAT field report

There has been a lot of talk on here lately about ASAT and people interested in purchasing a suit. With that said, here is my observation from the first couple of weeks. I' ve been on stand about 7 times and 4 instances stand out in my mind where I think the ASAT really worked.

1. October 1, I' m in a 15ft loc on and I have a 3 1/2 yr old 8 pt feeding on persimmons at 10yds. He looks at me several times, but never picks me out.

2. October 9, again hunting a persimmon tree in a very thick cane brake. To keep from being sillouetted(sp), I only climb about 4 ft off the ground, just high enough to shoot over the canes. I have 2 mature does at less than 20yds. They look my way several times and never pick me out. I killed one of those does.

3. October 11, same situation as day before, found a persimmon tree that the deer were just killing, but no good trees, I notice one tree where that is a thicket with vines, and etc. I climb about 8 ft up, 15 yds from persimmon tree. A spike comes in 4 yds from my stand, looks right up at me and for the first time ever, I had a deer actually look through me! It was an awsome experience. The deer went on to feed.

4. October 11, same afternoon as above, I have a mature doe feeding on the persimmons at 15yds, she never sees me at 8ft and she is in my freezer as we speak.

As you can see, this ASAT has really worked well so far. As the season goes on it should only get better as the woods go from green to brown/black. Good luck to all.

Yeah I' m already starting to have those types of experiences myself.........In addition to the success earlier in the week, Thursday I had a nice buck actually walk to within 12-13 yards of me before figuring out that I probably didn' t belong there..... No big deal right?
Well I was in the middle of a low GREEN field on my knees without so much as a mosquito between me and that deer![:o]:D And at 6' 3" I stick out like a sore thumb.
I' m really starting to feel stealthy for a change!:D

Glad to see the camo is working out well. I' ve read alot of good things about it. So far my advantage timber is doing it' s job but the ASAT camo definately has my attention.

I have had very similar results with my new predator camo this fall....really incredible! I just got the ASAT 3-d suit that I plan on wearing over my insulated mossy oak stuff when it gets cooler. I have no doubts it will work great too!

Belle and all,

Are you guys using the leafy style or the regular style? I hope this isn' t a stupid question. I' m getting very interested in this stuff and am putting it on my Christmas list today. I have gotten busted by 3 does already this year with the Mossy Oak HD stuff. Time to go invisible!!!

In defense of the Mossy Oak HD, I did set up in an oak tree last night that was turning coloring and I had several deer look at and through me. Being pressed against the trunk with front and back cover really helped me blend in, as the bark and leaves on the tree perfectly matched my camo. However, that' s the only stand I have that is actually in an oak tree. I want to be invisible in all trees.

I have just about all the ASAT gear, coveralls, shirts, bowhunter jacjet, buckswede jacket,3d leafy suit etc.

It all works just great I usually wear the 3d suit over the top but have been known to leave it off just to check the other is doing the job;)

The 3d leafy I have worn that over the top in a tree that had lost all its leaves and had deer feeding just in front of me without being busted.

You will truely know the meaning of being invisible with ASAT. If you already have your insulated gear then just get the 3d leafy suit to go over the top it wont matter what the season or the terrain is the suit will work;)

NorthernMN.

The new suits should be arriving any day now.

Chuck and the boys at ASAT kinda got caught with their pants down and got swamped.

Only those who own ASAT know what your talking about Belle, simply put, ASAT is the only camo that makes you invisible, as your finding out. Any nay sayers, just don' t get it. Like I mentioned before, I started wearing ASAT 15 plus years ago and then a couple seasons ago I ran into Chuck at a show. We had a booth, Chuck walks by wearing an ASAT jacket, his boy as well and I looks at him and says' " great camo, too bad I can' t find it anymore" ...and around the corner comes two more ASAT wearers....little did I know I made that statement to Chuck Pensyl, creative director for ASAT and with him he had the inventor Jim Barnhart and his brother Gary....we made small talk, " great guys" , set up a meeting and were prostaffed....there are some great products out there, bows, equipment, treestands etc.....and in each one of those cases I won' t say one is better than the other....but when it comes to camo......I know ASAT is far superior and I won' t be afraid to say it....ASAT is the best camo on the market today...period...most will work but you' ll never understand until you wear ASAT how truly amazing it is...in ALL SEASONS, ALL TERRAIN and why it is said, If your not wearing ASAT, your not wearing camo.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........Why is it so great?? I bought a cotton liteweight suit from brigade quartermaster about 8 years ago and the quality was terrible. It came out of my dryer in a wrinkled balled up mess. I never hunted with the camo was unsuccesfull in returning it for refund. However, my " lucky" hunting hat is a boony ASAT I bought at the same time...And I still have the longsleave " t" that I bought with the suit. Both of those are quality products, anyone ever have a similar quality issue with this stuff??

Michigan,
I can' t respond on the quality of the products of BQ, 8 years ago, but now ASAT, under new management, is putting out top-notch stuff. Why is it so great? The light color of the ASAT, combined with the brown and black contrast eliptical shapes, break your outline up like nothing ever has. The tan background blends into EVERY background, and can actually reflect the colors that surround you. The 3D suit even breaks you up more, making you even more hidden. Unlike most of the " artistic" , popular camos that you find in most stores, the ASAT won' t " blob up" at any distance. Do a search, on here and other forums, and you' ll hear many stories and see several photos of ASAT' s effectiveness. I got mine at the end of last season, and since then, I' ve had many of the same experiences mentioned above.
Chuck, if you' re out there, feel free to jump in!:D

Chuck is currently in Colorado on a hunt so please be patient if he doesn' t respond immediately. I was talking cell to cell on the road this past Saturday and he said he' s about one hundred emails behind but he does answer all.

Michigan Bow Hunter, that problem was with BQM, not the management of ASAT....today, Chuck will make it right, period and their new 3D Vanish Leafy Wear is amazing....not only because it' s ASAT but because the product itself.

I also have a set of the ASAT in polar fleece and love it! I cant wear cotton so dont go their lol. The stuff is sweet! How about having a whitetail buck look right through you at FIVE steps only to heart shoot him when he looks away! I have to say thats my best. 2 sheep with a total of less then 20 yards between the two. A handful of fur bearers, imho natures best. I cant wait to get more.

Talked to Chuck not to long ago, a week or so ago now and I am eagerly awaiting some fleece like my old dakota outfitters outfit. I have about worn it out if thats possible. All the nap is gone and the cold weather value of it is now almost nil. I' ll have to deal for now with a set of preditor woolens till the fleece arrives......some day I hope ;) :D!!!

Well its good to hear quality is no longer an issue. I' ve heard lots of good stuff here so I believe I' ve been converted! Unfortunately, I bought a scent-lok leafy suit last year and I' m pretty sure my wife will kill me if I buy another this year. So...next year is always a good option!!! Thanks guys!!
