hey what is the farthest youll shoot???????????
 

My friend says that he will shoot a 40 yard shot
without even worrying but.I hardly take a 35 without
thinkin ill just wound em.What yout think??????????

If I were hunting a field edge or still hunting up a logging road I would take a 40 yard shot if it were a open shot. But I dont hunt field edges and rarely still hunt. So it is a yes/no answer. I can keep good groups out to 65 yards on the ole' 3-ds' . I can not see my self shooting at game at over give or take 40 yards though. I couldn' t pick exactly 40 yards if I tried. At that distance I am usually within +/- 2 to 3 yards. So that is why I say " give or take"

Probably 30 yards if everything was right. I' ve taken a lot of whitetails and the longest shot was 33 yards. That was in my younger days and with a compound. The only reason I' d take 30 yards with my longbow is that that distance is my point of aim shooting three fingers under.

confident out to 40 yards if I mark it ...but most of my shoots have been 20 yards and under....

i would suggest that you should have a 40 yrd pin because ya never know when you might need it . whether it be hunting open country (fields, etc...) or making a shot at the bad boy buck of a life time. I think that you shouldnt use one if you dont feel comfortable shooting at that distance. I for 1 have no problem shooting that far. but being comfortable shooting that far comes from practice. and practice makes perfect.

my bow is capable of making a nice 40 yard shot if everything would be perfect...anything more than that is just asking to wound that animal, my bow isn' t capable of packing it in deep enough, if it got to it at all...when i got my bow i had to know what it could do...one of the first things i learned is that every good hunter knows his abilities and his weapons abilities....i believe i learned that reading on here:)
i have a 20, 30 and a 40.....20-25 is what i would like, but if i get that chance and i need that 40 and i know it will make a kill, then i know i will be able to do it....
