climbing stick
 

I bought the hunters choice 16ft climbing stick.It is well designed except for the straps to put it around the tree.They are not rachet type straps and I dont like them at all so I will just go get some make me feel safer.I was just wondering if any of the other sticks are like that

I have a set of Lonewolf climbing sticks. They are not the racheting type, but they light, easy to use, and feel very solid on the tree. IMO Lonewolf makes the best stands and sticks out there. [8D]

i second the lone wolf sticks. they are light weight and quick to set up. i use the loggy bayou cheap seat with them. makes overall weight to pack in around 15lbs.

Well I think I will try these for this year anyway.I got the Rivers Edge Bigfoot stand and I really like it.

I build my own climbing sticks. for 20' it cost me about $20 bucks.
i can build them as tall as i want . you can just add as many 5' sections as you want. i even build a pulley adapter to help hang stands .
i use rope to attach with a cleat hook welded on to tie the rope.

look just like those in cabelas for a fraction of the cost.

Got some API lightweight Aluminum Sticks years ago, and they have the kinda straps that arent a rachet strap but the buckle on the strap is toothed to bit down and grip the feeder end of the strap and they do hold well, I have never had one slip, very lightweight , and I like them.
On the down side I called Cabelas to order a 4' extension stick yesterday and they told me that if the API sticks I have were purchased before last year the new extenision will not fit my sticks:(
Gonna have to email API to see if they still have compatable extensions for sale to match my sticks.
