Your first Bowkill Buck
What was your first bowkill buck? Anybody have any pics?
I was 16 I beleive when I arrowed this one, a weird looking 9X5, about 22" outside wide. He was only 3 1/2 years old and could' ve been a real nice one with another year or two, but couldn' t pass him for a 1st buck with a bow.

Last year - second day of the season.
Dressed out to 175. Huge body - tiny little itty bitty rack.
Check-in station aged him to be 2.5 years old. Said that it was a good thing to have removed him from the herd. Lousy rack genetics.

I don' t have pics but my first buck or deer for that matter was an 8 pointer with a small rack, but I will never forget it. Actually, it was the first year I bowhunted.....back in 1977. By the way, I have never killed a deer with anything other than a bow.

I' m not sure they had cameras when I shot my first buck. [] It was my first deer ever, the last 10 minutes of the season while I straddled a log in a blowdown or laying down " Live Oak" ... 7 yards with my old Damon Howitt recurve. Little crotchhorn North of SanAntonio. Now you want to talk about someone being pumped. He heard me draw and jumped a half step at a severely angle away shot. I put it in about 2 inches in front of the hind quarter and it came out in front of the offside front shoulder. When he took off I could see fletching but it must have poked through as I found the arrow 40 yards down the trail and when I found the deer he had an exit hole.

I shot this nice buck 10 yrs ago. Took him at 11 yds
following a doe, exactly 3 weeks after I' d shot a bow
for the first time in my life...been a obsessive
bowhunter ever since[:-].
He' s a 11 pointer, with a 23" inside spread - netting
140" . Brings back some great memories.
...and this was my brothers, a couple of years later. The
land he shot this 8 pointer on is now a golf course[:' (].
