What do you think he will score?

I know it is tricky in velvet. What is your guess?

Thunderchicken217 08-27-2014 02:50 AM

I would say if he grows no more that he would be around the 170 mark but thats a gross score. He would have quite a few deductions for a net score but I'm personally not a big fan of net scores on deer. If he grew it then give him credit for it is my personal belief. Either way thats a shooter to me in whatever part of the country your in. Good luck and thanks for sharing the pics.

I took that picture of July 19th this year. Have seen him several times since. But they are fixing to split up. Got to try an locate him.

AR Bowhunter 08-27-2014 03:27 PM

I'm thinking about 110 maybe 115?

VTBoneCollector 08-27-2014 05:29 PM

He'll score in the 160's easy

peakrut 08-27-2014 11:15 PM

Close to 180 in velvet

DTC 08-28-2014 09:12 AM

low to mid 160's

rockport 08-28-2014 09:37 AM

Sure is. Here is another couple shots from my Nikon that same day.

Two videos.

iayotehunter 08-28-2014 04:07 PM

I'd say 170s

VTBoneCollector 08-28-2014 05:39 PM

Man, wish we had deer like that in Vermont. The most bucks Iv'e seen in 1 field at one time is 7 and only 2 of them looked any good. The rest were young.

The deer look huge for AR. The deer Ive seen in AR are very small. Is that right or have I just not been to the right part of AR?

fingerz42 08-29-2014 09:09 AM

160ish

the rest of this message is because it has to be at least 10 characters

crokit 08-30-2014 03:01 AM

High 150's, once velvet's gone.

Topgun 3006 08-30-2014 07:15 AM

That buck is easily in the 170s or better gross as a NT.

60X Custom Strings 08-30-2014 08:15 PM

Guessing 160's but it's tough to tell at this stage

Parts of AR do produce small deer but any of the eastern/delta regions can produce BIG deer & numerous MS River islands & other sections "inside" the levee regularly produce 250-300# BUCKZILLZAS!

As for what does that deer score? I could care less, he's well past the "oh chit" point & the first reaction should be "click boom"! :s1:

WIbuckchaser 09-01-2014 07:56 AM

I am going to guess 165.

dbllunged 09-02-2014 04:52 AM

high 160s low 170s

reds10ss 09-02-2014 03:27 PM

This is public land in NW Arkansas. The food supply here is endless an the season is only eight weeks long, bow only. They do get big or some of them do. Corn an soybeans.

Nice, do they regulate the amount of hunters they let in?

You can get a permit just by calling. I never seen them only sale so many permits. But guess they could.

I'm just still surprised that is Arkansas and even more surprised you don't have half the state trying to squeeze in there.

I just never would have guessed you would have that kind of quality hunting on public land in Arkansas.....Learn something every day I reckon.

AR Bowhunter 09-04-2014 03:28 PM

There will probably be over 600 permits sold. Any given day about 10-20 people are hunting. When they start chasing, there are a good number of people there. But, it is bow only hunting. I think that has a lot to do with it. Because the eight weeks it is open is right in the middle of muzzle loading an gun season. Most people not all people hunt with bow, muzzle loader an gun method.
