Ol' Man spreader arms
 

Anybody used these? I' m starting to spread out a little, and not having those swing arms grab me when the Ol' Man is on a narrow tree sure sounds good. I' m worried they might be a little noisy if you put all the weight on the front and they try to straighten a little-might put some bending moment on the bolts/bushings. Any thoughts? Where' s the cheapest place to get them? I don' t want to buy a new stand that doesn' t have swing arms if I can help it, but I don' t like being limited to the bigger trees to avoid being " pinched."

How ' bout anybody that has a newer stand with the spreader arms as standard?

That' s the very reason I don' t like the ole man stands. if your a little wide at the hips, you can' t even fit in the thing.:D I' m not wide at the hips, but you never know, I might start spreadin anytime.;)

why not get a summit? you don' t have to worry about spreader arms, the summit stands are easier to attach to the tree, lighter, they bite the tree real good( unlike the ole man) and their the most comfortable stand on the market. and their two new stands, the bullet and the broadhead fold flat just like the ole man. take a look at them in cabelas catalog.

Actually, one of the biggest probs I have is the wire pin-retainer. On a narrow tree, it catches my clothes and makes noise. I will change it out for some other method, but I want it easier standing up when a deer is near as well. I' m just trying to avoid spending $2-300 for a new climber. I really like the comfort of this climber. I like the idea of a traction belt that could be more easily adjusted for leveling while climbing than the pin setup. These swampy trees have such huge bases and narrow considerably as they go up. You have to set it up almost over your head and at a steep angle to make it level at the height you want. I am loathe to pull pins at 25 feet to level it out.

comndr45 I don' t think you will have a problem with the spreader arms. Can' t say for sure as my Ol Man Multi Vision is new enough to have the spreaders already installed. I' m a relatively large guy and I don' t have any problems. I also have a summitt and like it but I feel that the ol man is more comfortable, quieter and grips the tree better. I' d try the spreaders, it will only improve an already remarkable stand and be quite a bit cheaper than a new one;)
