Trouble with corn!!

The farm where I hunt is planted mostly in corn. Every year it is the same thing, very few deer sightings until the corn is cut. This year I am finding the same, no deer sign on the ridge that the crops border. However I have found sign such as rubs and droppings inside the woodline near these fields. This sign is probably not more than 40 yards from the standing corn.

Are the deer living in the corn day and night, coming out only on occasion? Should I be hunting near the corn in the morning instead of just evenings. Or will this just screw things up worse? Any suggestions would be helpfull in how to hunt this situation.

RE: Trouble with corn!!

Ah, I feel your pain. The deer in my area bed and feed in practically the same spot. Its hard to ambush them when they do this. If there is alot of sign at the cornfield but very little in the woods around it chances are they are bedding and feeding right there. Your chances are probally best if you can quietly sneak into your stand in the morning and catch them skirting the field edge before they go to bed. IF the field is small though you may have a problem getting in there undetected.

Thanks for the tip. The fields are all pretty good size so I will try giving that a shot.
