Scored on a nice young and tender doe on Friday. 85lb.
Climbed up in my stand at 4:30 and at 5:15 I could see the tall sage moving around some swamp oaks about 40 yards from me. The deer were milling around feeding on acorns. I took out my bag of acorns and started dropping them into the palmettos below me. Immediatly a doe starts walking right in to me. She came in and milled around about 5 yards from my stand but didnt offer me a good shot. She finally turned and headed back the way she came but stopped about 25 yards out to browse on some vines. She turned slightly and offered a good quartering away shot so I drew, aimed and released. Everything felt perfect as she bolted into the sage. I heard her crashing through and then silence followed by a little thrashing. I waited 20 minutes and climbed down to retrieve my arrow. By the looks of the arrow and the blood all over I knew it was a good hit. I followed the trail about 40 yards and there she lay, just waiting for the smoker.[:-] |
