Tagged one Sat.
 

Well, Sat. was opening day and I went out twice. I got a nice doe around 5 P.M. Sat. evening. I spooked a deer on the way to the stand Sat. morning, then saw another doe w/ a fawn but passed on her. Sat. evening, I spooked another deer on the way to a different stand, then fell asleep on stand. I woke up to leaves crunching, and thinking it was probably a squirrel, I turned my head a little just to check. Well, it was a doe, but she was already 20 yds. out and closing fast. She stopped to graze about 15 yds. out, and as soon as she came by, I waited till she turned her head and I drew. I double lunged her at 15 yards, and she ran maybe 25, if that. I can' t wait for the weather to cool down, its supposed to heat up again this week in NOVA.

Okay coolbrz you have made me jealous, I couldn' t hunt opener due to one of my daughters moving and a friend going into the hospital, this afternoon will be my first time out since regular season opened. Congrats on the doe.

Congrats! I made my first hunt of the year Friday. I saw two nice does, they just never presented me a shot! Saturday was hot and the two does never came back. Thats OK though I had a jillion mosquitoes to keep me company!:D[:@]:(
I could go back out this week, but I think I' ll wait a week for a little cooler weather, and maybe the rut will get them moving too! Again, congrats!

I am jealous too.... I was all set to head out Saturday for a late afternoon/evening hunt when (like Murphy' s law) something came up.... [:' (]

So then on Sunday I spent a lot of time practicing shots from my new Ameristep Grizzly climber (yes, people... I FINALLY got a good tree stand last week! [8D] ) I' ve read the instructions over and over, practiced going up and down many times, then hauling my bow up and practicing shots from 15 feet up. It' s all ready to go at a moment' s notice.

I hope to get out tomorrow afternoon (I' ll take the afternoon off from work) and head out.

Thanks all! I was holding out for a buck, but said what the heck. I put some good meat in the freezer and hopefully helped the herd out a little.

haha, yeah it is a good thing I' m a light sleeper, gonna have to be more careful this afternoon when I go out :D
