Stealth cam question?
I am having a few issues with my stealth cam that I hope someone can help me with. If I cut the camera off to move locations the film counter goes back to 0. How will I ever know when the film is really done? The camera may rewind the film and I would' nt know due to screwing up the count by moving it around. I put my camera on a deer trail that has alot of fresh tracks but after 6 days of 24 hour watch my camera only has like 2 pictures. So far I have zero confidence in it. If the counter is always right then I also have no deer on our property. Anybody want to share some of their learning experiance with this model camera?

RE: Stealth cam question?
Dont turn the camera off to move it, just set it to stand by.
When you turn it back on the counter will still show the pic count of what was previously taken. |
RE: Stealth cam question?
Same as Ausie-guy- turn it to stand-by when you move it. I had a similar scenario- hot deer area, but few pictures when I checked it. After sitting in the area for a morning I realized the deer cross in the area, but not necessarily in the sector covered by the camera. I' ve found using the test-mode helpful to determine how far out the camera will detect deer. If we' re talking about the same model (sold at walmart for about $70) I' ve been pretty happy.

RE: Stealth cam question?
I got a Non Typical DEERCAM and don' t have any problems like that. I have a hunting partner that just took his Stealth Cam back to Bass Pro for a refund because when it finally did take pictures, nothing was in the picture.
We set my camera and his camera up in the same place and my camera filled up in three days and his wasn' t showing anything. |
RE: Stealth cam question?
As Ausie said, don' t turn it to off. Just turn it to stanby wehn you move it. Just don' t forget to turn it back on after you are done.

RE: Stealth cam question?
Is there anyway to move thoes things without getting your picture taken? I recently got one as well but every time I go to check it I waste film. Any tips?

RE: Stealth cam question?
To keep from wasting film on my ugly mug I come up from the backside of the camera and flip the cover open from the flank... never get in the range of the sensor.
