Getting old, my elbow is killing me!

I am going to have to take at least today off from practice due to my elbow killing me[X(], I had an arrow lock installed on my bow and the guy adjusted my nocking point because it was off a tick. Well of course I had to resight my bow in and shot way to much Wednesday and then again last night, I had to stop last night due to the pain in my elbow. If you have had this happen before how long did it take before you could start practicing again?

At least the bow is resighted in, so no matter what I can stick one Monday if I get the chance.[8D]

Never realy had the elbow bother me before, just the shoulder. Since the bow is shot in, I really wouldn' t push the elbow too much.

Taz I have had similar problems and my doctor said it is basically tennis elbow. He suggested stretching the arm by extended it in front of you, palm faced out, and fingers pointed down, then grab the fingers and lightly pull back, turn the fingers up and repaet holding for around 10 seconds. I have had very few problems since doing this I start before I shoot and if I feel a flare up i sit on the couch watching T.V. and stretch. Hope this helps ya....

Hey Taz,

I get that feeling too... Being a lefty, my left shoulder and elbow can ache a little after shooting and shooting and more shooting target arrows in my back yard. I didn' t shoot my bow for a day or two, and I was fine the next time around. Good luck!

I had a roaring bout of tennis elbow several years ago. It took a good six weeks before I could shoot a bow again, and even then I had to use one of those support bands for a year afterward. I still get a twinge of it now and then.

But that' s just a minor irritation compared to all the other stuff that hurts nowadays. ;)

BobCo I am going to rest it until the pain is gone. When you get to be my age you learn to rest things that hurt!

Rebel wolf I thanks for the advice I will start doing that, how many times should you do it before shooting to consider it properly stretched?

Navy it is my bow hand, and just to save you some time I don' t lock my elbow, just in case that is what you were thinking. I have tendonitis in my ankle so running except in an emergency is out of the question, so I feel for you.

Butch my shoulder has never bothered me, if you met me you would know why, I have shoulders like a linebacker! LOL I hope you are right and I will be better in a day or two. What is not going to help any is I have to help my daughter move tomorrow.

Taz I usually stretch both arms 2x stretching one then the other before shooting and when I think about it during the day I stretch them then too. Hope it helps....
