Anyone have the recipe to make your own scent killer/eliminator?
 

I am wondering if I can get the recipe from somewone to make the scent killer/ scent eliminator for spraying on your clothes and stuff to try and help cover up your scent?
I know I remember a thread on this one time awhile ago. And I would really like to find the recipe for it if possible?

Go up to the top right on your screen and click on ' SEARCH' , then type in the keywords you want. If you type in " scent killer" you will find a list of topics which mention this...there is a thread from Sept. 8th (I think) which has a thread devoted to homemade recipes.
I tried to make my own but couldn' t find any scent-free liquid soap other than Scent A-Way shampoo. I made my recipe using this. I don' t know if it will work cause I swear I still smell soap. I will try it but if I get busted too easily I will just do without.

I' ve never made my own but it seems that bakng soda and water would work. I know that the stuff I buy leaves a white powdery residue after it dries.

Hey guys, unfortunatley ive been away for a while.. but im back with answers :-).
Instead of a scent killer formula, you can use a pine scent for a cover up. Its different but works as long as you wash your clothes everyother week. Wash them in strictly baking soda. Anyways back to how you do it....
1) go outside
2) Pick some pine needles, green leaves, and anything that smells like woods and is green or natural color (means its still living... more scent that way)
3) but it in a pot w/ water (make sure you dont use to much water for the amount of leaves you have)
4) boil it for 10-15 minutes
5) Wait for it to cool down and store in milk jug in container
6) put it spray bottle and enjoy
7) its free and deer dont smell yah

Strut & Rut provided this " recipe"

2 quarts 3% H202 (Hydrogen Peroxide, brown bottles, $.98 quart at Walmart)
2 quarts distilled water ($.50 gallon at Walmart)
2 boxes of baking soda ($.50 per box at Walmart)

Grand Total- $3.46 for 1 gallon of scent eliminator, compared to $30 in cabelas... Can you say advertising and lucrative profit?

Mix all in a bucket and stir until soda well dissolved. Let sit for at least two hours, mine sat 2 days. Keep mixing as baking soda falls out of solution and drops to the bottom of the bucket. Only so much will stay dilluted, don' t worry to much about the fall out after it' s sat awhile.

Fill containers (I used the H202 quart bottles and the rest in the gallon jug). Cap. Let sit for 1 week. Use liberally, cause the stuffs so cheap :)

I make my own cover scent from spruce or balsam. Go and trim the needles/stems with a scissors. Fill an ice cream bucket full of the cuttings. Take your blender and fill full of the cuttings. Add about 4 cups H2O and blend for a couple minutes. You' ll see it get nice and green. Strain out the mush from the liquid and add more cuttings if you have some left. An ice cream bucket should make you about 2 qts of the scent. It works great. Have NEVER been winded when using this. I personally don' t wash my hunting clothes all season, so they smell like pine trees after season ends. It' s free and works! Tazimna

Thanks Rangeball. That is what I was looking for.
The problem I have with the other suggestions is if you don' t hunt in the pines all the time you can' t use pine scent.
Or the same with leaves from the different trees if they aren' t where you are going to be hunting, it could set off a red flag to the deer as a strange scent and scare them away.
Years ago I used to use fox and coon urine as a cover scent but it did not take long for the deer to associate that with a human and get scared of it.
Anyway I would like to thank everyone for there help on this!!!! It is greatly appreciated!!

We' ve got a lot of mountain cedar in our area so I started boiling some every so often and pouring it into a spray bottle. Works great as a cover scent. I wash my clothes in scent free soap and store them in plastic containers with baking soda sprinkled on them. This works for me. I just can' t see spending all this money on cover scents and scent illuminators.
