Torn between two spots
Seeking help from the pros!
I want to set up a blind to bowhunt out of for a relative coming in from out of state next month. I spend all day today hiking through the woods and I found two places and I don't know which one to go with. I took several pictures today of the area hoping you guys could look over them and give me some advice. Site A is a saddle that runs along a ridgetop. I appears to be a travel corridor between a bedding area and feeding area. It is bordered by a laurel thicket that I believe deer are bedding in or near. Here is site A http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0170.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0171.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0172.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0173.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0176.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0178.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0179.jpg Site B is another saddle but much smaller. It kinda goes out into a point. It slopes off severely from both sides and is above those same laurels in the first picture. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0183.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0185.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0187.jpg and this one is just for fun! http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...3/IMG_0188.jpg I am disappointed because there is no evident sign of heavy deer in the area. It is so dry right now in WV that you cannot see any tracks or really anything else right now.. Any input is greatly appreciated! |
Woods near bedding area. I hunt near my Highline all the time. Highline is what we call where the power lines go up the hill.

With all things equal I think the easiest way to choose is to take the choice off your shoulders and put it onto the wind.
Figure out which wind is best for each spot and go to the spot that is most favored by the current wind direction. This takes the "choice" out of it for me and makes it easier to make that decision. |
Hunt whats best for the wind that day. All you have to do is be the right place at the right time. :) If both places are great thats all you can really do. Its kinda like the question what broad head is best.
