whats in your quiver?
Was out on the weekend doing some final tuning with a few buddies before archery season kicks off on wed. They in theyre great wisdom noticed the broadheads I was using on 6 hunting arrows were of 2 different makes. They started giving me grief over it,, saying you cant do that!! they wont fly the same as each other. I proceeded to put every arrow within 2" of my aim point out to 35 yards. Then they agreed I could do that!:D
Does everyone have a quiver full of the same broadheads,, or a mix and match of good shooting arrows all hitting at the same point of aim? who cares what broadheads are on them,, as long as they fly straight? |
RE: whats in your quiver?
If you were to peak into mine you would see that I am shooting PSE Carbon FOrce Extremes with Mar-Den Vortex 100 grain heads ( thanks to 5-shots wisdom I made this choice and love the way they fly and think they will be awsome on my buck this year !!! lol) oh yeah they also have a white dip with two flo orange and flo yellow with w flo yellow nock!!!

RE: whats in your quiver?
I have 6 XX78 2514 shafts cut to 31" . 5 of them have Thunderhead 100 broadheads on them. The last shaft has a 125 grain Satellite 4 blade head that I cut two of the blades so they are prongs. Cutting the blades reduced the overall weight to just barely above 100 grains. I reserve that one for any turkey that is unlucky enough to pass the stand.

RE: whats in your quiver?
I put 3 5-blade innerloc and 3 muzzy 4-blade heads in my quiver. I practice with both, and they all impact the same exact spot at 30 yards (my limit with whitetails).
They started giving me grief over it,, saying you cant do that!! they wont fly the same as each other. |
RE: whats in your quiver?
100 gr steel force premiums on XX78 2314 shafts. I would make sure that those different heads flew the same at all distances before I would mix and match.

RE: whats in your quiver?
Regardless of whether they hit the same, I' m curious as to why you just don' t pick one style and shoot that one?
|
RE: whats in your quiver?
Well, I' d say that in my case, I have never used the innerloc before, I have used the muzzy. I guess the reason that I carry both can not be explained logically. I' ll problably have both of them nocked at some point in the season (not both goofy :D).

RE: whats in your quiver?
I' ve gone into the field on occasion with both muzzy three blades and shockwave mechanicals in my quiver. Just depends on what I' m hunting. If I' m going out for moose, there' s the possibity that I' d see a black bear, or small game, so I' d have a couple arrows set aside for them. I usually have a couple arrows set up with field points and adder tips for grouse and ptarmigan, but for the most part, I have 125 grain shockwaves loaded up and ready to fire.

RE: whats in your quiver?
I' ve got two sets of arrows in my quiver just for kicks and giggles. The first set consists of 620 grain ash arrows tipped with 130 grain broadheads. I' m hoping to take a deer with these arrows because I made the broadheads myself from circular saw blades, which I hafted to the shafts with steel wire.
The second set is composed of my big gun heavies...775 grain purpleheart arrows tipped with 215 grain Ace Archery broadheads. These broadheads look like someone pounded a spade shovel flat and mounted it on the end of spear. I' m just dying to see what they can do. :) To 15 yds, they both fly the same. The heavy guns drop only slightly to 20, and I don' t intend to use them beyond that. |
RE: whats in your quiver?
Again this year - I' ll hunt with Rocky MTN Snypers but I still carry a couple 100 gr thunderheads for turkey (i don' t want to risk messing up my deer hunting heads on a bird!). Often times, turkeys offer me a shot and both seasons are open the whole time.
