Just curious what you guys do before hitting the woods. I generally get up, eat something light, try to take care of business in the bathroom, take a shower, then get dressed on the covered deck at our camp, get in the truck & head to the woods.
In thinking about scent control, I' ve thought about just putting on my under clothes on at the camp (with some old scent free camo so people don' think I' m....strange driving in my unders) & head out to the woods & THEN put on my boots & outer wear when I get to my parking spot. ALSO, how do you keep your clothes scent free. I try to keep mine in a Scent bag or large zip bag with a Fresh Earth wafer but often forget something inside & have to wear everything in......
Of Course, then you have the scent in your truck or on your 4 wheeler seat ect
Do you completely spray down with scent killer before you leave the truck or what?
Just want some ideas to think about before opening day.........Thanks!

You' ll find guys on this board who are totally fanatical and guys who could care less about scent control. I fall somewhere in the middle. I don' t take a shower every morning, I don' t own a scent lock suit, I don' t go the woods in my under clothes. But I do keep my leafy wear suit in a plastic bag with scent wafers and stuff it into my back pack, when I get to the woods I slip it own over my clothes, I also spray myself down with scent killer and always wear rubber boots. You can never totally fool a whitetails nose, but you can put the odds a little more in your favor.

Im quitting hunting and taking up golf and tennis. I' ll be over in the Small Ball sports forum if you need me.

Actually my routine goes something like this. I get out of bed and shower with EArth scent shampoo and body wash. I' ll throw on a t-shirt and a pair of sweat pants, eat breakfast, poop de jur, then off to the woods. When I park at my hunting area I' ll put on my hunting clothes, spray some cover scent, and put on my rubber boots. Pretty much the same routine every time.

First i hit the snooze button, when it goes back off im up. I start pulling on socks, pants, etc. Double check all my equipment to make sure im not leaving anything important. Stop at Oklahoma station to flirt and buy chocolate milk and sausage egg biscuits. i also keep my clothes in a plastic zip up bag.

Up a half hour before I plan to leave the house, wash face, bathroom duties, light cereal snack, check my checklist, walk outside to check the stars and temperatures, stretch, gather my gear, secure the house and drive 45 minutes to my hunting grounds.
Now, that simple word I used before ' stretch' . Might seem dumb, but I lay on the family room floor while watching the Weather Channel and I stretch just like you' d do back in your high school gym classes or if you ever played sports. I find it necessary to get in some good stretching especially if you are hunting all day. I think it really helps relax the muscles and makes it very easy to be on stand all day.

well heres what i do not sure if its all really necessay but it seems to work for me. a week before season i shower everyday with scent killing soap. couple days before season opens i wash my carbon suit with scent killing soap and earth cover scent then hang them outside to dry. I leave my suit outside all the time under the over hang of the roof of the house or someplace where it won' t get wet. Hunting day wake up and use the facilities and then shower with my soap. grab an apple or orange no coffee. walk outside and place my suit in a rubber container. drive to where i' m huning get out and then put on my suit which includes carbon pants, jacket, rubber boots and a facemask. then i spray myself down with scent killing/cover scent spray. Almost done. then i take a little skunk urine and put it or my boots for cover scent and a drop or 2 by my stand. I may be over doing it a bit but i had a nice buck bust me a few years back and since then i' ve gone to extremes and haven' t been sniffed out since. happy huntin

Get up, make some coffee (but mainly for after the morning hunt), take a shower with scent-free soap and shampoo. Put on some sweats, eat breakfast (usually cereal or oatmeal) and brush the teeth. The anticipation is usually killing me by this time, so I go out into the garage, put a chew in and load up my containers of clothes, bow, climber, etc. Throw on some tunes and drive to my hunting spot. Spray down, then get my hunting clothes on. Try to get into my stand about a half hour before sunrise. It' s funny, because if I happen to see some deer, I' ll do the exact same thing as the day before...otherwise, I' ll change it up a bit. Guess I' m superstitious.
