RE: Nightmare with my new Patriot

Atlas,
Ok........you have a bow that is stacking arrows at 30 yards.
You have had one hell of an experience getting to that point alone, that we will all certainly agree on.

The issue right now is trying to help you find your noise problem. You are right with all that stuff it should be a VERY quiet bow.
Is any of the following possible:

Cable Guard rod STILL loose? Or is that screw inside still loose. Don' t take the pro-shop guys word for it, check it.

Your rest threw a tire once already.......is everything TIGHT?

Module screws loc-Tite' d in?

Do you shoot with a bow mounted quiver?

How light or heavy are your arrows? Very light arrows combined with ANY slight loose ANYTHING will sound horrendous.

You might not have time to send the bow back, but you do have options.......BowTech is a VERY helpful company. If you explain that you are simply unsatisfied and that the pro-shops have been of little help. See if they will help. A 1-800 phone call costs nothing. And who knows........an overnighted new bow might be a possibility?
Or.....you have time. Take EVERYTHING off the bow. Put the simplest rest on it and start from scratch. If the noise starts with ALL of your old stuff off then its either still the Cable guard, or some other screw on there somewhere.

What you probably really need to do is just stay rational, and contact the companyagain. I know I have complete faith in their ability to make things right. Simply explain that you are NOT satisfied with the bow in its current state. That it was NOT like that when you bought it. You might be pleasantly surprised at the results.

I would think so

Cable Guard rod STILL loose? Or is that screw inside still loose. Don' t take the pro-shop guys word for it, check it.
Watched him tighten it myself then he let me check it.....then he epoxied the rod AND tightened the screw back into the epoxy......He put Lock-Tite on the outside screw and tightened that in.

Your rest threw a tire once already.......is everything TIGHT?
Everything is tight......checked myself. The vane clearence is SO bad on this thing that I am going to replace it I think instead of getting even more frustrated with broadheads.

Module screws loc-Tite' d in?
Rock solid

Do you shoot with a bow mounted quiver?
No quiver

How light or heavy are your arrows? Very light arrows combined with ANY slight loose ANYTHING will sound horrendous.
PSE Carbon Extremes 200' s The shaft chart says I could shoot 200' all the way to 85 lbs so I should be fine......100 grain tips

I am going to call Bowtech on Monday and see what they say. Unless they can gaurentee a 1-2 day turnaround or a new bow I will have to wait until the season is over.

I may do this if I decide to get a new rest. I really don' t want to rip the whole thing down and then struggle with trying to get it back where I started. I don' t know if I can handle that kind of frustration right about now.

I will see what John recommends I do on Monday

RE: Nightmare with my new Patriot

atlasman,

First off, I want to commend you for sticking with it in an effort to get the bow to shoot to your expectations. I do expect that you will hear good things from Bowtech when you call on Monday. It has been my experience that their customer service is top notch and they do stand behind their products 100%. Please let us know how that phone call works out.

After reading the entire thread though I had two things come to mind...neither are necessarily directly related to your problem, but......

PSE Carbon Extremes 200' s The shaft chart says I could shoot 200' all the way to 85 lbs so I should be fine......100 grain tips
Just as a point of reference, those charts refer strictly to spine. That 200 might be spined correctly for your setup but that does not necessarily mean that the grains per pound of draw weight ratio is good for your setup. Case in point, I had once been shooting Carbon Express and with good overall satisfaction however, they recommended that I shoot a size 300 which would have been spined relatively good for my setup but which also would have put my grains per pound of draw weight ratio right at about 5-5.5 grains per pound. An arrow that light is bound to cause increased bow noise especially with my long draw length.

Now, I am not necessarily saying " this is the problem" but I am throwing it out there as something to be considered as one factor in the equation.

Lastly, weren' t you shooting a TRX in recent years? I might have you mistaken for someone else. If it was you then what happened to that bow? Did you sell it to purchase this one?

Just curious.

Hope things work out.

Yes that is me. My brother was getting a new bow this year and then ran into some financial trouble so it was looking like he wouldn' t be able to hunt. Rather then hunt without my brother I gave him my bow which he always liked a lot and went out to get a new one......he can give me the money whenever he gets it.

I didn' t weigh my arrows......I guess I could put them on a scale just to be sure. I really doubt that is it though because I feared a light arrow was the problem early on so I shot a couple old 2315 lincoln logs I had laying around and saw no change.

I will keep you posted.

Aman.

I tried the Nap fall away on my 02 Pat and just could not get it to work properly.

You might invest in a Bodoodle Pro Lite thats what I ended up using on my 02 Pat and it was bullet proof and had no fletching contact.
I did have to fine tune the rest to get the b/heads impacting with f/points but it was only a minor adjustment.

But you will find that Bowtech will stand 100% behind any product they produce.

RE: Nightmare with my new Patriot

I appear to be one of the few to get the NAP 4000 to work on my Patriot. The rest is noisy when it falls. To help this I put an accessory limb saver on the front of the shelf just high enough to allow it to contact the launchers. Don' t use the rubber piece provided by NAP. Install the rest low & use the up & down adjustment to compensate. Make sure the block where the launchers attach is below the shelf. I' ve set them up this way on my 02 Pat & P40, 01 Mighty Mite & P38 DC, 03 Pat Dually & P40 Dually.
