Good buck pic from Game Cam
He' s a good size buck but his rack isn' t that great. I can' t decide if I would take him if he gave me an opportunity. He' s definitely a good buck. I' m not a trophy hunter(I have no mounts yet), I shoot does for meat but I only want to shoot a buck if it' s going on the wall. What would you guys do? Don' t yall think his neck looks big for this time of year?

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
Though he is not exceptionally thick and his brow tines are sort of short I would still call him a big buck in my neck of the woods. That is what it basically comes down to. Is he a trophy for you and where you hunt?

Hey thats a nice buck, id stick him! Good luck this season.

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
Not much of a trophy here in KY. He would be the biggest thing I have ever shot, but I think I' m holding out for more. Here' s a pic of a good 8 point my buddy took on a WMA here in KY. It makes a great addition to his basement wall!!

I' d take him - Its a mature deer - probably 3-1/2 yrs old (too bad its only six ponts - but I' d almost bet on it being 6 points again next year too). Especially if you do not have a mount yet - He' ll make a fine first deer mount - and you will not be sorry.

Hey that buck your buddie got is a realy dandy! congrats to him!

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
Yeah, it' s a real nice one. Hard to top that one ever. That' s probably the best buck he will ever take.

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
The fact that he managed to kill such a nice on public land has to add to the pleasure of harvesting it.

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
It' s a nice looking buck. In the past I wouldn' t have hesitated, but with the new antler restrictions here in Pennsylvania, that buck would be illegal. Where I hunt, a buck must have 4 points on one side to be legal. I couldn' t tell by the picture if he had a 4th point on the left side or not. It might be tough to tell in the woods also...So he would have to walk, unless you subscribe to the " A little devils advocate anyone" thread I posted earlier in the month. B.T.W. He would still walk.

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
Thanks for the pic,Dont mean any disrespect , but 3 1/2 is not a mature buck. Yes in some areas of Pa that would be a illegal deer. In my section it would be just legal and I would probably take it.

RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
I' d call that a nice 2 1/2 yr old. Either way, he' s a nice buck.
|
RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
If you think there is a nicer buck in the area, I would hold out. I have shot a lot of real nice 8' s in my life but I still don' t have a mount yet. I just want something special for the wall.
Good Luck |
RE: Good buck pic from Game Cam
I agree with Belle Island, I' d only call him a 2.5 yr old only the teeth can tell us for sure. He' s very respectable and if I' d never taken one, yeah I' d consider him, but if your buddy' s buck is a rep of your area, I' d wait for one more mature. The buck from your game cam looks like he has some growing to do but you and you alone can make that decision if he offers you a shot......Good luck.
