Tree Stand Help!

I am looking for some advise on hanging a lock-on stand from climbing sticks. I have a Summit climbing stick. I find it difficult to efficiently hang the stand. I am usually swinging from the stick at 15 feet with only one foot on the stick (since the steps alternate sides) and hugging the tree...trying to rope up the stand while hanging on to the tree. I feel like I need a couple more hands! Of course I am doing all this with a safety belt. Should I let the safety belt hold me up (ie: lean backand not hug the tree)?

I hear about people hanging their stands in about 5 minutes...it takes me a lot longer!! Help![:o]

If you want to hang a stand as safely as possible and the tree allows, bring along a CLIMBER stand as well. Attach a hoist rope to your Loc-On stand, and climb up to hunting height. You can then hoist your Loc-On up and you' ll have a nice stable platform to simply stand on while you attach your Loc-On.

If the tree doesn' t allow that, a good way si to get a lineman' s belt.........it wraps around the tree and attches to your hips. You can stand on your climbing sticks with your hands free with your weight against the belt.

Like Matt said, get you a climbing belt or better yet a harness like the Seat o the Pants harness that can be used as a climbing system. You hook the rope to both sides of your harness at the waist, and cinch it up tight to the tree. This will allow you to not have to worry so much about balancing yourself and you can move around a lot better. I can hang mine (especially my new Summit Head Hunter Lite)in less than 5 minutes.
