What game not allowed to hunt?
 

Was wondering, what game does your state have, that if you lived in another state would be allowed to hunt, but can' t where you are now?

Here in Oklahoma, we have black bears. We' ve had them for many years (spilled over from Arkansas) but the game department only recently even acknowledged that they exist. The populations aren' t sufficient to allow hunting, they say.

Also, there are more and more sightings of mountain lions every year.

Polar Bears. We can head over to Canada and fork out about 25K to hunt them there, but in Alaska, they are protected under the marine mammal act and only natives can kill them. Guess I' ll have to pay the big bucks.

In Ontario we are unable to hunt caribou or elk. I think some natives have rights to caribou but you' ve really got to be north for that.

Also, unless you' re willing to drive for 24 hours, it' s almost impossible to hunt moose as well.

Mountain lions, there is a very strong population of them in the Black Hills and the surrounding prarie. The game and fish refuses to give the true facts on the matter and hasn' t set a hunting season. The misinformation given by the Game and Fish is amusing, great stuff for the Discovery Channel. Directly west of here, approximately 10 miles is the Wyoming state line and Crook county where the yearly quota for hunters is 8 cats and the local game warden and govt. trapper say should be 10. I wonder why they feel they can kill 8 and we don' t have enough to take 1? Guess the cats are afraid to cross the state line. I would surmise that the population is in good shape as the quota in Crook county was 2 three years ago.

Here in Massachusetts we can' t hunt but have Moose and Doves.

We were never allowed to hunt bears, but this year it opened up for the first time. A real victory for us.
We' re also not allowed to hunt doves, but those darn things look so much like quail....;):D
