How many days a week do you hunt??
 

I am fortunate enough to own my own business so I can set my schedule to nicely coincide with hunting season. I am just wondering how much you guys get to hunt during the season on average.

My plans for this year are Mon afternoon Wed morning Thurs all day Sat all day and Sun all day. This comes out to 4 full days each week or 16 full days per season leaving of course extra days for the rut. Shotgun is the same schedule for me and then 3-4 days of muzzleloader. I figure on getting about 40+/- days in the woods this year.

Needless to say my wife is a very cool woman...........who loves to eat venison :D

last season I hunted both days of opening week end.
Then I hunted all day every 2nd day except the week ends mainly cause it was public land and it was loaded with guys on the week ends.

For the six week season, I will hunt all Saturdays, mornings and evenings...if not all day...I hunt every day after work every chance I get...I leave work at 4:30 and until the time change, it allows me enough time to get into a tree without spooking the deer. I have a weeks vacation the second week of Nov which is the last week of our season and peak rut....I also have several other days off during the season like the first Mon and Tue that Matt/PA will come north and hunt with me. Lot' s of time in a tree for sure but that is one of the things I love about bowhuting. :D[:-]

,y boss s the greatest..he lets me take off whenever i need too and he knows i will not work during a hunt seeng i hunt quota hunts only......and i hunt where i work, so in case of emergency i' m just a phone call away....my hunts are anywhere from 2 days to 4 and i have like 6 hunts.....i' ll be out there every chance i get....and it' s usually from dark to dark.....everyday.....til i get one...

I could better answer that if it was " how many weeks per year do you hunt"

This year I will have hunted three extended week long trips, then maybe 2 or 3 days a week average while I' m at work. I' ve been out hunting the last two nights, but taking tonight off to rest a sore throat, but I plan to be out tomorrow night, and hopefully about every night until I tag a caribou, then I' ll be out with the camcorder.

I' d say in a year I hunt 75 or so days, hopefully I' ll get alot more than that next season, starting with caribou in April, bears in May, small game in June, Caribou in July, then anything that is open from August to November.

2- 3 days a week Bow which ends Dec.31 and every day during Nov. special Doe permit shotgun, and Dec. 6 day firearm buck season.also Dec. permit Doe Then in Jan and Feb Permit shotgun every other day. Unless weather is really bad But I use snowshoes when neccessary. Some people say there' s something wrong with me. I think I' m normal. Although I get a fever from Sept. till Feb.;)

well normally it would be every saturday and a couple nights a week until that dumb clock thing comes up , but being as i' m unemployed this year and the job market stinks ;) i' m going eveyday yeah!!!!!!

I hunt in Arkansas, so I get a 5 month season. I usually only hunt Saturdays and that is usually every other Saturday. I take a week off in November and a 2 weeks in December. All in all I probably hunt about approximately 30 days a year. Not alot, but thats about as much as I can get out with family and work obligations.

The last 4 years I' ve been able to hunt every day after school and every saturday. This year I' m working part time so it' ll be cut back quite a bit. I' m hoping to get at least 3 days a week to hunt, possibly 4. This' ll take some getting used to.

Then there is the 8 days in November that I' ll be Illinois :D.

I work nights and weekends. I usually get home around 10:30 or 11pm. So I hunt mornings and on my days off which are Sunday and Monday 1 week and Monday and Tuesday the next. The nice thing is that when I hunt and fish, there' s nobody else out there! And don' t tell me that the deer don' t pattern humans! I' ve seen an area where deer hunters hunt hard on the weekends and the deer go nocturnal. Then on Monday afternoon, they they are out feeding in the same place. We have a 9 week season here in Iowa for bow and I fully expect to hunt 4 or 5 days a week during that time unless I tag out. But I' ll have 4 tags to fill (2 any sex and 2 doe only) so I' ll be busy.

during weekdays i get evening hunts in, then saturdays are all day and sunday i go to ohio and hunt all day

As many as possible:D My wife is a season widow;) We were out driving near my hunting area last night and saw for does all fairly small and I told her how pumped I was getting and she said " I' m Not" :) She' s really good about it though till late Dec and Early Jan. I hunt every evening from Oct 1st till early Jan with a week or so off when the season is in transition. I will hunt the first 5 days of October all day this year and then as I said every evening and all day Sat & Sun. If I tag out and some of my buddies haven' t I' ll video their hunts for them so I can have more time in the woods. I sometimes go by myself with just a camera.

I can hunt at least 4 mornings/evenings a week and sometimes more. our season is 3.5 months long.

well with the new urban archery season I would estimate my number of days spent afield actually hunting (not scouting or anythign else) would be 75+ this year seeign as I am at a new job and wont have as much time off as last few years ( the last few years I hunted every single day 6 days a week from opening of bow season until close of regular gun season.. I was a repo driver one year and the second I managed a large towing company so i made my own schedule so I woorked nights and sundays and hunted monday through saturday) boy what a rough life....

oh and i might have ot take some vacation time this year as well... we are already closed the week of xmas and the week of new years... besides the fact I have access to 30 acres directly behind work that no one else goes into so I can hunt before or after work too... lol

I try to go out every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, and every evening. Considering that KY' s bow season is from September 6, 2003 - January 19, 2004, I should be able to get a lot of time in.

I work the midnight to 8 shift on a 4 days on 2 days off rotation. So I hunt 3 evenings and 2 mornings every 6 days for 4 1/2 months. Needless to say, most of that is during the week when I have the woods to myself. My wife bought me the sweatshirt which reads, " We interrupt this marriage to bring you the hunting season." Gotta love her. [:-]

Pa has a short 6 week season, and you aren' t allowed to hunt sundays, so I do the best I can to hunt 4 of 5 days after work, even if only for a little bit. And all saturdays. I have 1 full week off and a few other days scattered here and there as well.

During archery, before DST, I get out almost every afternoon during the week and then each Saturday...all day most times. That would be 5 to 6 days a week for the first 3 to 4 weeks of the season. Then when DST arrives I only get out on Saturdays. That would bring the total in archery to around 22-24 days. I get out for 3 days of our rifle season...the first monday and then the two saturdays....and I also go out for about 7 or 8 days of our extended archery/after christmas hunt. That would bring the total of deer hunting days to around 33-35.

Ofcourse, I also small game and migratory bird hunt as well. :)

Well I must be lucky. I work 2 jobs most of the year and am lucky enough to take 6 straight weeks off for hunting. I take the last 2 weeks of October and the entire month of November off from work. In October I usually hunt in the mornings and come out for lunch. I then return for the evening hunt. Once Nov 1st rolls around I hunt the next 4 weeks daylight till dark. This has been my best weapon in simply spending 12 hours a day on stand for 4 straight weeks during November. You would be surprised at the deer that move in the middle of the day. " Hunt till it Hurts" !!!!!

Well if I wanted a divorce I could hunt every day for almost 6 months, but I love my wife and kids so I hunt 2-3 afternoons every week of the season and take off at least 1 week to strictly hunt.

Stinking up the woods every single day, so by the time you or me get out there the darn deer are so scared they don' t move:D[:-]

It can really blow sitting at work on those perfect mornings - but to be honest I couldn' t handle getting up at 3:30 every morning. I would get burnt real fast.

Working all week lets you appreciate the few measly hours we get to hunt.

Sticking one on Sunday afternoon though can be one heckova pain:D

I' m out there pretty much every weekend from Oct 1 until Miod January when season ends in Illinois. I use a couple vacation days and (cough cough) sick days during the week to sneak out of the office to chase deer as well.

It depends on my work schedule. I am on call one night a week and one weekend a month. (veterinarian) I' ll hunt most every morning before work and every evening unless I' m on call. I hunt every Saturday and Sunday that I' m not on call. My boss allows me to come in late and leave early during deer sesaon. I can schedule my appointments around my hunting.

For the past few seasons I have worked at night, so I could hunt in the morning and then go to work. However this year I am planning to go to work in the coal mines, and I have no clue what my schedule will be yet. All I know is I will be working 10hr days, with 3 days a week off. So I may have to cut down to three days a week!!

Usually only get a Saturday and maybe one day during the week, I try to make the best of it, but I also throw in some vacation and sick (cough, gag) days here and there.

The last couple seasons I' ve been tallying up my hours on stand, not days, cause I usually move from morning to evening stand if I get the whole day. Last year I spent about 35 hours chasing whitetails, and five days chasing Muleys. The year before that I spent 80 hours chasing whitetails. We' ll see how this year goes, looking at the calendar I would predict I' m going to be able to spend about 60-80 hours chasing whitetails..........hopefully I' ll be able to fill some tags also!!:D

I have the fortunate opportunity to hunt where I work. I hunt every single day of all seasons:D:D. I only hunt the afternoons during the week and all day on Saturdays at a farm. I spend way more time than my wife would like, but she enjoys the rewards of the hunt as well as my kids.

2-4 days per week depending on the weather and other committments. If I could, I would be hunting all day everyday:D but unfortunately that isn' t possible.

Generally, 2 days per week plus 14 vacation days that I usually take in November and December. I also have 5 holidays to hunt. That adds up to a total of 51 days of hunting time! Not enough, but it will have to do! ;)
