Robin hood

Yea this what happens when you forget that you already shot on that target. Usually I pick different targets for each arrow but someone was talking to me and I lost track of what I had already shot..
Kind of cool but I hate damaging arrows

I hate when that happens (even though its pretty cool.) What range do you shoot at in RI?

VTBoneCollector 01-31-2013 03:58 PM

Been there, done that.

I was shooting at Narragansett bow hunters . I'm a member there . Where do you shoot?

RIStrutStopper 02-01-2013 07:05 AM

I shoot at Tiverton R&G. I live much closer to Narragansett though. Just joined South County too but they're light on archery.

Maybe I'll try to get over there once or twice to do the 3D thing. What time do they get started?

I think that you can go on the course at 7:00 but most people start around 8:00
Some practice a little first and other are grabbing a bite to eat and a coffee .
They have a full kitchen . They serve lunch as well hot off the grill

Very nice. Those maximas were running about 12 dollars apiece though. Last one I did went right through the bull dog collar without cracking it all the way through. I generally shoot at different dots also but wanted to check a grouping. HD.

Pains me

Watching those ten dollar bills floating out into the air.

Small targets of an accurate shooter produce Robin Hoods.

I would have had a few if I shot at a public range. But I also used a target with small stickers and could accurately place one arrow in a "target." I made. Never went for groupings. Showing off has it's cost.

Shot mostly a private range, where walking back and forth was part of the exercise. But that can happen if you're shooting alone. And my shooting came down to one shot accuracy. Somehow I avoided the Robin Hoods, knowing it was as much luck as one shooter at a private range can get.

I basically went by: groups work good with bullets; groups don't don't work too good with arrows that you expect to use again.

Costly. Now, in all my years of shooting in organized archery (57 now) I have ONE. B/4 5 spot targets we shot 1 bull. Now, I owned 2 shops/lanes for nearly 20 years. I have no idea how many indoor/outdoor shoots + indoor/outdoor leagues I have attended. I have posted indoor 300s, outdoor field 560s & animal outdoor 560s. Those are all perfect scores. I have destroyed nearly a Dz. arrows in an indoor tournament-blowing the ends off my shafts but not a Robin Hood. I think it was mostly the way aluminum shafts were made back in the day & no, I don't feel cheated. I have seen archers (back then) stack 5 arrows in the spot & a quarter would almost cover them but NO Robin Hoods. Lot's of busted nocks & blown ends of shafts. Sorry to ramble.
Enjoy your excellent shooting & be glad we now have the 5 spot targets.

Nice shooting but sorry for your luck with the busted arrows.
