Instinctive shooting
 

As a youngster I started bow hunting with an American Archery recurve. I killed a doe with it but never really developed a particular instinctive shooting technique. I'm thinking about getting back into traditional shooting and am looking for any info you traditional guys have regarding instinctive shooting. Thanks.

I've been shooting recurve on and off for a little over a year. Shooting instinctively is simple and fun. The difference between instinctive shooting and trying to aim your bow is your focus. If your shooting instinctively your target will be all in focus, and your arrow wont. If you r trying to aim your arrow then the end of your arrow will be in focus, but the target a little fuzzy. Instinctive is like throwing a baseball, you can just look and know where it will go.

When i shoot recurve i have a completely different anchor point that works for me (compared to compound bows), and a certain way i hold my bow. After you find your anchor point you should be able to get decent group even though they probably won't be hitting what your aiming for. Then you can make adjustments and eventually get a feel for what is what when your shooting.
