I killed a small 8pt yesterday evening, and I think it's the earliest in the season that I've ever shot a buck. The rut is still 2 or 3 weeks away, so I'm actually a bit let down. I love the rut, but this buck offered the most perfect shot at 25yrds, and I'm on State land where you don't get too many opportunities, so I let it fly! He ran maybe 80yrds and I heard him crash.

Had to leave my bow/stand in the woods over night because I couldn't drag/carry everything out at once, so the only pics I could get were at the butcher shop. He was a plump 130lbs dressed. I still have 2 antlerless tags!

Good job,we are Deer hunters and we shoot Deer when it all comes together,he will be good eating and is a good animal nothing to be ashamed of or regret. I would shoot that Buck in a minute this year because my goal is a full freezer and great memories and success brings both. Congratulations!

Thanks guys. It's true, I did want to kill something and this buck came into a shooting lane that I had just trimmed back on Sunday! I'm happy the way everything happened, as far as the route he took to get in shooting range, the actual shot, the short blood trail to where I heard him crash. Everything went perfectly, I just wish it had been a bigger buck that did what he did.
