UltraTec XT3000 or ProTec XT2000?

I' ve narrowed down the choices for my next hunting bow to two Hoyt models. I shoot 60# with a 31" DL and use a release, fixed broadheads, and carbon arrows.

The Protec XT2000 is only 38.5" A-A with an 8.25" brace height. The UltraTec XT3000 is a little longer (40.75" ), which I like, but the brace is a little less (7.75" ). It' s a few fps faster, but that' s not nearly as important to me as accuracy under hunting conditions.

We archers have lots of opinions, so let' s hear yours. Fire away!

Both are excellent choices, but I would choose the ProTec due to the deflex riser. In fact, I did choose it. It' s extremely hard to torque a deflex riser bow, even when you try to, and that is something I feel is very important for best accuracy. Like you say, it does come at the cost of some arrow speed but I' ve always considered speed nice if you can get it, but not a primary concern.

With the two you listed, I also agree with Arthur P. for not only the reasons he mentioned, but also for the XT2000 limbs.

I currently own the Ultratec w/command cams+ and I must admit the Protec would be my choice if I were to purchase a new one tomorrow.

I own a 2002 ProTec with the XT2000 limbs and cc+ cams and I could not be happier with this set-up. I beleive it is the perfect hunting rig for my needs. It got even better when I put a Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter drop away rest on it about a month ago. I thought it shot good with my GFK Infinity but that TT made a noticeable improvement. The UltraTec and ProTec IMO are Hoyt' s two best bows, just take a look at which bows their Pro Staffers are shooting, but from a hunting stand point I would reccomend the ProTec due to it' s ultra forgiving deflexed riser geometry.
