practicing with shock waves

What is the best way to practice with shock waves. Do you tie the blades in? If so what do you use. Season opens in a couple weeks. I have been practicing with field tips all year, but want to check out my huntinging arrows with the shock waves that I will be using this year. I have an old set to use for practice.

Just tie the blades shut with a little dental floss. Works for a shot or two. I keep a few old ones in my tackle box that are tied shut, and shoot one every now and then.

do the little metal washers have to be on there when practicing? I shot one of mine the other day about 9-10 times, and when I finished the little washers had indentions in them.

You must have the washer on there, otherwise the blades will fall back into your inserts. You' ll have damaged insets, and if you hit anything solid, a damaged arrow.

Ok 6pt thanks. this is my first year shootin shockwaves and I wadn' t sure about the washers. I guess the target I' m usin is a little to tough and damaging the washers. can you get those little washers at the pro shops? we have 3 shops, but I don' t think either carry the shockwaves. I guess I could get them to order me some.
