Is it ethical to shoot a running deer with a bow?
#1

This was debated on another thread and I thought it was quite obvious what the answer was but curious on what others opinions are. Would you shoot a non-wounded running deer?

Only if you can make the shot. Practice first on bunnies when you are 8, by the time you are 13 you can hit a runner. Keep it in close, and know your animals, you will be fine. People shoot running hogs all the time, what makes deer so special? I am not a deer worshiper, and animals dont have rights. A standing deer has a better chance of ducking an arrow than a deer running 10 yards away.

But if a bow is so slow that a deer @ 10Yds. can duck the arrow, they had better lead that deer 20Yds. when it's running. Deer don't always run flat out. They jump and bound, making leading them even harder.
I "hope" nobody would "worship" a deer!LoL
I hear your opinion furgitter, I'm not knocking it.
IMO it would have to be a 1-in a lifetime opprtunity for me to chance that shot.
Could it be done? Yes.
Could I do it? Probably.
Will I need to? No.

I apreciate the open mind Predate. Theres alot of Sheeple on here that have apearantly never had the opportunity to learn to shoot running deer, so to them, it just cant be done, cause it says so on TV. In my opinion, you can miss just as easilly with a gun as with a bow. Without propper practice, both pieces of equipment are junk.

Just because I can't and won't do it does not mean that it isn't ethical. There are some shooters out there that can and do do it. I don't even like to shoot at a walking deer with my bow, I'm pretty picky on my shot selection. Know your limitations, and follow them. That is what is ethical. Don't put your limitations on everyone else though!
