RE: Yearling or Adult or Adolescent???
Good Job WV
Looks like I have been calling them little buggers the wrong term:) No matter.......Their all just " bait" for the big boy:D |
RE: Yearling or Adult or Adolescent???
Hard to argue that definition, I' ll still it as a deer in it' s first year of life....but what difference does it make? None, I' m sure! We all agree that a 6mth old deer isn' t a shooter....well most of us!;)
And one more..... Should a young deer be a fawn until it is 1 year old, or until it' s weened? Kinda reverts back to the original question, but seperately what do you think? |
RE: Yearling or Adult or Adolescent???
ALthough I see/hear the term yearling used quite often, I personally have never used it. To me its either a fawn or a doe(usually with a size description prefacing it).

RE: Yearling or Adult or Adolescent???
I usually think of it more in terms of size. If a deer is 75lbs or less, I consider it a yearling, whether it be this year' s fawn or last year' s late drop fawn.
