DOUGHOUSE VS. BRICKHOUSE BLIND

Which One???

I was at Gander mountain and seen they had the Ameristep Doghouse TSC and the Brickhouse TSC, both for $140 in MOBU camo. I do not really need the TSC but I have heard from others that the extra pockets on the inside are handy. I assume that you probably do not need the floor so this would make it about the same weight as the regular one. I will have to walk about 1/2 mile ti my stand at most if this helps. Do they both set up and tear down easy.

I have seen numerous post on ground blinds lately and only recall one or 2 mentions of the Brickhouse by Ameristep.

Thanks for your input.

Any advantage of one over the other as far as window size, height and placement? I know the Doghouse is bigger but is it better?

dburnett,

Thanks for your input on your experience. Anyone else with tips on camo preference. I hunt in Wisconsin with a lot of Oak tree' s and some pines.

Thank You

In all honesty, I have not experience with the Brickhouse model though from the pictures I have seen of it, it looks as if you need to attach some form of tie down ropes to the middle of the walls in order to get it set up correctly. Can anyone verify this? If this is the case then I think any of the Doghouse models would be easier to set up since they do not require this.

As for the prices you quoted, they seem a bit low in the case of the Brickhouse and a bit high in the case of the Doghouse. Most of the places in my area have the Doghouse TSC model for around $115 to $125 and the Brickhouse for at least $150. To be honest with you, I do not see much of an advantage in going with the TSC Doghouse over the regular Doghouse unless you want the extra room that it provides. Considering the price differences....$69.99-$79.99 for the base Doghouse model....I usually recommend the regular Doghouse.

I guess what it comes down to is that any of them would be a good choice but you have to understand why you are paying more for certain models/features.

As for the camo pattern...I like the base Tangle camo as it blends in well with the mixed hardwoods/thicket type environment that I typicaly hunt in. Considering your environment I do not think either choice would be better than the other.

Hope this helps.

I know the Brickhouse is 8" smaller than the Doghouse TSC, but as dburnett mentioned it is wider at the top where you need it. The Brickhouse was only $139 due to an overstock and only avialable in MOBU camo, it usually goes for $200. I guess since it is a good deal I could pick it up and try it, and if I don' t like it I would try the Doghouse. After looking at the camo patterns the Tango looks like a better, more universal camo that won' t become a big blob at 30 yards.

I just got a Brickhouse and the hubs make it very tight. If it is windy enough to make it flap I feel like it would be windy enough to blow the blind away. The brickhouse my be 8 inches smaller than the doghouse but it has windows in the corner so you can shoot from corner to corner which gives you more room. I am 5' 10 and I can basically stand up in mine but not to shot because the windows are to low.
