Hey Shawnee, what county do you hunt out of? I'll be heading back down to the Saline/Williamson area for Shotgun this year and wondering how Antler growth is after the drought this summer.

I was in Fulton last weekend doing some last minute stand hanging/trimming/camera checking and didn't find anything. I walked the creeks too (where these deer would be) and didn't see or most importantly, didn't smell a thing. With it being in the Mid 80s and humid I'm sure we would have smelled anything dead but nothing. Hopefully we get a frost soon so help control it and to make it feel more like deer season!

I hunt Wayne, Edwards, White and Pope mostly. We have farms in all those counties. I've noticed some pretty decent antler growth on most of the pics I've seen. It doesn't seem to have effected them too much.

fastetti...EHD deer you will smell a mile away. Its a pretty unique odor I think. If they were there you'd know it. I found one in White Co. a few weeks ago, and as soon as I caught a whiff of it I was able to walk right to it.

Between the disease and dnr giving out to many deer tags I believe te Illinois has been whittled down to thin. The increase of gun seasons in effort to shoot pregnat does is just dumb.

I have to agree with you. That is just plain cruel to kill a pregnant doe. This could be done early in the season and be acceptable,
