Climbing Sticks Or Screw In Steps??
I am curious to see if you guys prefer climbing sticks/poles or screw in steps? I have been using screw in steps for years but was thinking of trying Summit' s climbing pole this year. It does look to be safer than normal screw in steps.

I have a set of Gorilla climbing sticks and they work great and are easy to put up take down.
I can get up to 15" with them. They are light 9lbs and they easily strap to my stand when packing in/out

I use the ladders from Non Typical. http://nontypicaltreestands.com/rapid.html
I have seven and hang 2 stands. I use 4 at a time with 3 always on the tree and remove the bottom one when leaving, that way whatever stand I hunt all I have to do is attach the bottom ladder in about 30 seconds.

I used to use the screw in steps all the time. I still have at least 3 dozen. As i get older, it gets harder and harder to hang on the side of the tree and screw the darn things in. I' m usually worn out and drenched with sweat by the time I get up to the height that I like to hunt. I started using ladders several years ago and don' t think I could ever go back. I' m thinking about trying the Summit Bucksteps myself.

I just bought the lone wolf sticks, they are pricey, but the quality is second to none. I' ve tried them out and they are very secure and easy to use. When hunting an area where good straight trees are scarce, the climbing sticks will be invaluable.

We used steps for years with no problems....then we had a couple of instances where steps broke or pulled out of the tree. I bought a set of steps about four years ago and have gradually phased out steps altogether. They are much, much safer and better for the tree!
