What time do you guys hunt until in the A.M.?
 

I personally have never seen much movement in the early season(such as WI this weekend!:D), past a couple hours after light, especially good bucks, but what do you guys think?

It seems same goes for evening, with not much movement until just a couple hours before dark, or less. Mid-day might be O.K., but usually you have to be relatively close to a bedding area, and it can be a little risky for so early in the season.

Any thoughts?

Early season, I will stay to 10:00 or 10:30, if hunting in the beds or very close to them in thick stuff.

If further from the bedding areas I may get out earlier.

I try to stay up my tree until 10:30-11:00. I figure that by 9:30-10:00 a lot of guys get bored and start to walk around. Sometimes I can catch deer that have been bumped sneaking past my spot.

The early season down here in the south can be hotter than fng' s collar after about 9am. After it cools a little, I like it all day long if my old back holds up.

I try to stay on stand from about a half hour before dawn to about 10am. There just doesn' t seem to be much, if any, movement in my area after 10....till about 6pm. Then the evening I' m usually on stand by 4:30 (at the latest) until dark.

I stay to about 11:00 AM and return about 3:30 PM for the afternon hunt, even in the heat. I' ve just seen to many deer in the 10 AM - 11 AM range and in the 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM range to miss it.

On a normal day. I usually stay in the stand till 11. I usually return around 1-2.

Depends on a few factors.....If its warm and early in the season, I' ll hunt to about 9. When it cools off I' ll stay another hour...As the rut approaches I' ll stay all day...

Good point jersey, I stay in my stand all day in the rut as well. Too much action to miss if I' m not there. During the rut I seem to find that the most activity is between 9am and 3pm....go figure -- about the opposite of early season.

Like most of you here I' ll stay until 10 in the early season and go back out around 3. As the rut approaches I' ll stay as long as my schedule allows. I hunt alot before work so a good portion of the time I' m done about 7:45 am.

My rule of thumb is I usually try to stay in stand a minimum of 3 hours after documented sunrise, and then I usually try to go another hour if there is some activity. So yeah that puts me anywhere from 9:30-10:30 in the a.m.

In the p.m. it' s usually about the same but reverse, I try to get out there by 2:30-3:00

I stay up there as long as I can......but ussually that' s around 9:30 am.

Normally I stay till 10-1030, but I' d really like to try and stay later, because I' ve seen so many deer moving mid day, even in the early season.

I try to stay put as long as i can, as for big bucks moving during midday, they will alot of times, after about the first week of rifle season here they get conditioned to hunters goin in and out of the woods and start moving during midday, during the rut bucks will also move after early morning, the does are all back in their daytime hangouts and the bucks start cruisin em,

As long as I can, usually I`ll stay til sometime between 11:00 and 1:00. I`ve
seen more deer between 8:00 and 8:30 than any other time.

It depends on the individual day and what is going on in terms of deer movement. If I am seeing alot of deer but no shooters or not in range then I might sit until 10:30 or 11:00 am. If am not seeing much and not hearing much from my fellow hunters then I could easily be out of my stand by 9 am.

I have stands that I prefer to hunt at midday as well so I may pick up and move if the action is slow at my morning stand.

Not to be a smartass but I stay until I feel it' s time to get down.

It may be 30 minutes or it may be an hour, depends on what is going on, and usually the less that happens the longer I stay

Early season I' ll usually stay until sometime around 11:00. Sometimes longer if action dictates, and it' s not boiling hot already. Last year I killed a doe on opening day (early Oct) at 12:30. Action was just too good to get down. Even if it' s a little slow, I' d just rather be up a tree...than doing much else.
Later in the season, I' m there for as long as it takes. There' s an awful lot of mid day action come Nov.

Some of you guys are nuts!:) You can shoot until 8:00 in the evening around here in early Oct., but some of you have stated you get back into the stand around 2:30, 3:00. Thats a long sit. I have multiples cameras on my property on connecting trails to feeding and bedding areas, and it' s common to catch movement around 2 hours before dark, and in the middle of the day, but the big boys are always very early, and very late.

I guess I should re-phrase the question....What' s the latest you guys have taken mature bucks in the morning, early season only(Mid-sept to early Oct.)? I think I do what a lot of you guys do. I usually sit for around 3 hours after sun-up(I' m in my stand 45min to an hour before), but sometimes I get out earlier if nothing is going on, and sometimes later if for some reason I think I still have a chance at a mature buck. Later in the season-late Oct, to mid-Nov, I' ll stay all day sometimes, if I have a comfortable stand. Basically I' m in the stands at that time as long as my rear-end and back can stand it, usually based on the quality of the stand.

No set time. Depends on the weather, time of year, time of season, where I am etc etc etc. Usually anywhere from 9-12.

Early season, warm weather, no deer sightings since 7:30--8:00am means I' ll be getting down around 9-9:30am. Towards the end of October, I' ll add in another hour. By November, it' s all day.

Depending on where I am at if deep in the woods I like to stay untill 1030 or so in the early season if closer to a field 930 or 1000 is good. Middle of October on through the end of november I like to stay as long as possible. I try to have every thing done at home so I can stay out all day.

Since NorthJeff rephrased the question, I' ll respond. I have shot an 11 pointer at 5:00 PM (dark at 8:15 PM) on a full moon and 95 degrees outside. I must admit that when I see mature bucks move in early season, it' s usually early afternoon. I see mostly does and small bucks in late morning early season, but hey, does are legal, too.

I am like David, early season I may come off my morning stand and still hunt/scout in some places I hunt until it is time to sit in the afternoon. There is one stand I will be hunting this year that I will sit it all day as long as the wind is right, major trail, river at my back, tons of trails coming off of 3 different fields and a WMA across the river from me that when the deer get pushed to hard will happily swim/wade the river to me.

I really have no set time, but factors to play a major part.., wind, temp and location.

I hunt until around 12:00 noon, go back to camp and eat and
I am normally back in the stand around 3:00.
