Patriot shooters help me out
Let me start by saying that I know very well that it is not a great idea to get a new bow this close to the start of the season..........bottom line is that my brother has been shooting my bow (very well) with me all summer and was planning to get his own in plenty of time for the season. A few unexpected financial slaps later he could not come up with the money for a new bow. I told him if I found a nice enough bow I would let him take mine and pay me when he could........gotta do what I can to make sure my bro is with me in the woods.
ANYWAYS....... I have shot Mathews before and just don' t fit me well.........I shot a Hoyt Razortech and it was VERY nice. I shot a Patriot single cam and was speechless. FAST and smooth as silk. I shot 270fps through the chrono and that was set at 60lbs [:o] For someone with a short draw like me that is pretty darn good IMO. My TRX shot high 240' s maxed out........220' s at 60lbs. I still am amazed at how fast and flat that arrow flies. Enough about the bow........you all know the Patriot is nice........I personally didn' t know it was THAT sweet, but that' s another thread. What do you guys have on yours and what arrows are you shooting?? I have a NAP 4000 Drop Away Copper John Dead Nuts No stabilizer (any suggestions??) I shot PSE Carbon Force at the shop and they flew fantastic......I never thought much about these arrows but the shop owner says they are the most consistent tolerance wise he has found in the carbon shafts.......and he had hundreds of dozens of all kinds........was he just pushing these or does anyone else have them? String loop (new to me.......and I like it a lot) Peep with tube It has a Hush kit on it Any and all advice or suggestions would be great. I shot in my yard tonight and was grouping so well it was scarey. 30 yards now seems pretty close with that flat arrow flight. I have almost 6 weeks to go and if tonight was any indication I will have no trouble being VERY ready for the season. As far as I am concerned I will be better and more deadly. Thanks for any help guys. |

Atlas - the Patriot is one sweet shooter - super hunting bow.
I would advise that you check very carefully for fletvhing clearance with that rest. I could NEVER get that dropaway to work well with the solo pat. Broadhead tune sooner than later to make sure a tuned nocking point will not yield any fletching contact. if you find a way to clear both the cable and the rest prong let me know:D The drop Zone on the other hand works great on that bow. The hush kit will not last so be prepaired with some whiskers or leaches. all you need is a little doinker or such in the rear stab hole. I have a 4" isolator in the front and one in the back would be a bit better - In fact you could get away without one:) Oh and ax that peep tube man:) - the o2 strings are good enough for a tubeless peep - gain another 8-12 fps also:D Good luck with it;) |
RE: Patriot shooters help me out
Another couple of tricks;)
Slide the vibra blocks down to the limb pockets and install Limb Savers in the normal spot. Plus put some cats whiskers on cut them to about the size of a 1/2 dollar and push them all the way up against the serving near the idle wheel and down to the serving at the cam end. |

There is also a rubber X on the cable bar........good or ditch it?? Seems fine so far. Thanks |
RE: Patriot shooters help me out
There are already rubber things there........part of the hush kit right?? Get rid of these or just wait till they break off and replace as you said. You don' t have to sand the finish do you?? My other bow was split limb so I don' t know much about how to glue the solid limb ones on. If the bow is a little top heavy try putting a doinker chubby hunter in the back hole. I will also agree with Rack get rid of that peep tubbing once the string is shot in the peep is not going to be out of alignment. Besides that if that tubing breaks while you are full draw you could take an eye out. |
RE: Patriot shooters help me out
Do you have to sand the finish to get the limb savers to stick?? You did say to put limb savers on after moving the vibra blocks right??
I am going to just try a few small stabilizers and see what I feel balances it the best. Is that big rubber X on the cable bar worth keeping?? |

Mark, well you finally came over. Glad to hear you like the Pat. I use the 4000 on all my BowTechs. On the 02 Pat I had no problems. If the lifting cable gets in the way, put a twist in it to turn it away from the arrow. I' d take the string silencers off(they will wear the cable where they hit it) & put on leeches or whiskers. I' ve been shooting PSE Extremes & Comp Pros for a year now. No complaints. I use the 300s for hunting. At 29" with a 100 gr Stinger & 4" vanes they weigh 375 gr. Try a Quiet Tune in the rear mount. They make a 4 oz one that is short. You can add a 2" extension. They work great. No peep tube!! Get it?? Good luck this year.

RE: Patriot shooters help me out
Atlas, congrats on picking up a great bow;). I got
rid of my Q2 this past summer and bought the ' 03 Patriot SC...best bow I' ve ever shot. Smooth, fast, and it' s so quiet my friends can' t believe it. For now I' m going to leave the o2 strings on, but I plan on going back to WC next spring. I cut the vibra blocks off my limbs and installed Limbsavers, and replaced the string silencers with Sims leeches. I also repaced the cable slide with a Sims teflon cable slide. I' m using a 4" D2 Doinker on the front with a single Sims module on the inside. TT Shakey Hunter Spot Hogg 27" draw @ 66 lbs. I' m getting 256 fps from my Easton Epic 400' s (380 gr.) I want to shoot my ACC' s (250 fps @ 400 gr.), but these Epics are grouping to well...got BH' s and field tips hitting the same[:-]...." if it ain' t broke-don' t fix it" :) Nice gesture on your part with your brother...I hunt with my brother also, wouldn' t trade it for anything... Best of Luck TB |
