Tree Stand recommendation??

I looking for a climbing stand that is light weight. Would really like to try one out before buying, but I know that's not gonna happen. Any recommendations. Light weight... I'm thinking Summit Open Shot. thanks in advance I've been using a API Grand Slam for years...Think it gets heaver every season?

I also used an API Grand Slam for years and it definitely got heavier every season! I bought a Summit Viper before last season and I love it. Light, steady and easy to climb with. Love the rapid climb stirrups. Strongly recommend Summit. :hail:

Go with a summit . Very comfortable . The open shot is a good choice

Look on Ebay for an old Loggy stand. The first Loggy came out where you only needed the base. It hooks to your feet and you shimmied up the tree. The single piece is the lightest around, allows you to attach your back pack to and put it on your back. Its also extremely quiet. I've bought another one not too long ago off ebay since they aren't made anymore.

Here is one below. Forget the climbing aid included with this one. The key features to look for is the base of the stand that touches the tree. notice this one has a smooth arch. For some reason, Loggy experimented with 2 feet extending from the uder support bars that touched the tree. Thats a bad design. This smooth arch is the one you want.

This one below looks to have those feet.

TREESTAND MANUFACTURER'S ASSOCIATION

What price do you want to pay; how big are you; style you like; width of seat needed; how heavy is heavy for you; do you like open front or need a closed front; would you want one facing the tree. Everybody is different; treestands are different too.

I have both a summit and an old man I love both of them both are light weight but I do like the way my old man sets better than my summit, but when I need to sit all day the summit is excellent!

I'm a firm believer in ol'man. Have any of you checked out their new Drone. I have one on back order. Can't wait to get it the woods!

I had an Ol' Man...now I have a Lone Wolf. It's not quite as comfortable as the Ol' Man for long sits, but it's great for long hikes back because it is so light weight. It's also silent and easier to set up and adjust (the Ol' Man is louder to set up, no matter how careful you are).

love my lone wolf alfa hand climber! but i only use it for afternoon hunts when hopin around the woods zeroing on them rascals! but it would not be too comft for an all day stand for me. i do like the summits climbers from the looks of them, but i had a guy on the same farm climb up a tree not far away from me ..yea i know.. but he did and he was in the right wind so... any way when he climbed up i heard a loud noise.. it was his cable as he climbed up and the cable went from slack to snug on the tree.. not sure if it still does that but that was the only thing that kept me from gettin one... hope you find the one that suits your needs for the coming season

I love my ol' man. I've had one for 10 years or better. Bought another one just prior to a Ky deer hunt 3 years ago, all camo. I just love they way they sit on those long days on stand. I do use a back pad on those long days though. That ol'man that is posted is one I have not seen, I've got to check that out! Is it aluminum ? What's it made of?
